Action packed

Last week the Year 7 Netball teams took part in a tournament with a number of different schools in Doncaster. The teams dedication, team work and resilience paid off having numerous wins across both teams.

The Year 9 Netball team then had a game at home which they unfortunately didn’t win. However, the girls put on a great fight and the skills they had been working hard on during training showed during their match and they did not stop until the final whistle!

The Year 7, 9 and 10 boys football teams have had 2 football games in the past week with the 9s winning both their games and the other teams putting on a fantastic performance but unfortunately couldn’t quite claim victory.

We have lots of new extra curricular clubs happening after the Easter break and we hope to see lots of new and familiar faces. Keep your eyes peeled for what is coming up.

Another thank you goes to all students who participated in the Fun Run on Monday 25th and Tuesday 26th. Well done!

All of your donations will be warmly received by the British Heart Foundation for their vital research into heart and circulatory diseases. It’s not too late to donate! Beautiful Work This Week

Sign Language Week at Green Top

Last week was Sign Language week in the UK – so all the students at Green Top have made this video, singing and signing the song ‘True Colours’ as part of the celebration!

‘If We Plant Trees…’ – Legacy @ NJS

As part of their awesome POLs this week, every single Year 3 and 4 child has planted a tree at Norton Junior School, with support from Murphy’s and their Roots Programme.

They also celebrated their product from last term (more on this next time!) and unveiled their awesome digital artwork, made from images of recycling – this will be on display in school after the Easter break!

Plover’s Eco Garden!

KS1 at Plover have just finished their Expedition ‘The Blue Planet’. Their final product has provided a lasting legacy for the community – a lovely eco garden that will develop across future Expeditions to provide a range of habitats and food sources for a variety of insects, birds and mammals.

Students dedicated the trees to community heroes who have helped to improve the lives of people across Intake and Doncaster at their POL yesterday – including Mrs Ogle and Dame Rosie Winterton!

Highlights from KS1 and LKS2’s COL @ Green Top

On Friday, KS1 and LKS2 at Green Top celebrated their learning for their two Expeditions – ‘The Blue Planet’ and ‘There Is No Planet B’

The celebration included an interactive art gallery, a visit from Reptile Rendezvous and showcasing awesome family learning.

Y11 Easter Revision Sessions and Core Learning Labs

We just wanted to post a reminder about the revision sessions that are running during the second week of half term.  Although these aren’t compulsory, attendance is highly encouraged.  Having said that, it’s also important that Y11 have a much deserved rest from revision too, so hopefully they will be able to strike the balance between both over the next two weeks.

Once we return on the 15th, it’ll be all systems go for Y11 as we really do start the final push towards GCSEs (you can view the GCSE timetable here, but don’t forget we have Art and Spanish Speaking exams scheduled during the first two weeks back.)

Core Subject Learning Labs will be running from the first Monday back and these sessions will be compulsory for all students.  If your child can’t attend for any reason, please let me or your child’s Crew Leader know.

Monday: Maths
Wednesday: English
Thursday: Science

Finally, D6 (our Saturday revision school) will be back up and running from 20th April.

Y11 have shown such resilience this term and we’re all so impressed with the effort being put into all sessions.

With thanks for all your support,
Angella & Mel

Easter Hamper Day!

FXP will be announcing the winners of the Easter hampers tomorrow morning around 10:30am. There are 3 prizes to win! Students and staff can buy raffle tickets from Miss Mitchell at £1 a strip for a chance to win one of these prizes. If you haven’t bought yours yet, you still have time. Tickets will be on sale up until the announcement tomorrow, so get your tickets quick!

FXP will also be doing another tuck shop tomorrow. There will be lots of goodies to buy including fruit pots, sweets, crisps, hot food and cans of pop. Please bring in some money to purchase these at break time tomorrow (cash only).

We look forward to seeing you!

X28 Year 9 Crew Pasteur Beautiful Work

This half term all Year 9 classes have been taking part in the Faster Reader Scheme, with the goal of increasing students’ reading ages. All of Crew Pasteur really enjoyed their novel ‘Legend’, and half of the crew increased their reading age by well over 6 months. Here are Bella, Summer, Neave, Ellis, Caleb and Kacper. A special mention MUST go to Bella, as her reading age improved by over FOUR YEARS!! Impressive Bella!

You can also see beautiful Maths work from Neave, and Science work from Kacper.

Crew MCO/CMO’s Sports Hall Reward!

We had an AWESOME morning in crew today… after earning some reward time for 100% attendance, high amounts of praise points, and just being INCREDIBLE…

We took on a game of ‘corner football’! We also took part in a crew mile to raise some money for the British Heart Foundation to support Miss Barton’s ‘dechox’ challenge – where Miss Barton isn’t eating any chocolate for a whole month. She’s got more will power than we have!

It was hard to get good photos this morning… crew are SO fast! It was lovely to see crew working as a team, communicating well, and showing integrity when their teams were out! A special shout out to the red team (Aaran, Emma & Paddy) and the yellow team (Leo, Lewis and Charlotte) who came out on top of the corner football points table!

We’re super proud of you! Miss C & Mr M x

Y11 Weekly Planner: 25.3.24 & Easter Revision Timetable

We are also pleased to share the Easter Revision sessions running during the second week of the holidays. Students are highly encouraged to attend.

Also a heads up that after the Easter break, after-school Learning Labs will run as follows from the 15th April for all students:

  • Monday: Maths
  • Wednesday: English
  • Thursday: Science

Thanks

Mrs Parker

Wear red and run for fun for the British Heart Foundation

One more week until I can eat chocolate again!

Thank you to everyone who has supported me so far in raising money for the British Heart Foundation – I pledged to go the whole of March without eating chocolate for the British Heart Foundation’s Dechox 2024 campaign. It is a cause close to my heart, and I appreciate every penny and every kind word in support. Some students have also joined me in giving up chocolate – thank you so much!

On Monday 25th (for Y7/Y8) and Tuesday 26th March (for Y9/Y10), students have been invited to bring a pound (or any amount they feel they can donate), wear red, and run for fun (a great way to keep your heart healthy) during crew time in order to show further support for this great cause. Y11s are also more than welcome to participate! Your academic crew comes first as you are very close to exam season, but if you can spare the pennies or the time to run with us, you are more than welcome!

If you would like to donate to this great cause, please follow this link to the JustGiving page, or scan the QR code in the poster below: https://www.justgiving.com/page/natalie-barton-1708372948129?utm_medium=fundraising&utm_content=page%2Fnatalie-barton-1708372948129&utm_source=copyLink&utm_campaign=pfp-share

Thank you!

Miss Barton

Crew O’Grady

It was great to see the students in crew working hard in PE this week. You are all demonstrating the HOWLS, work hard, get smart and be kind. We have had some amazing praises this week from teachers to members of crew. Students have been performing their music in front of the class, working hard in HUMS and being amazing on fieldwork.

What a crew we are. WELL DONE.
