HPV Immunisation All Year 8 and Year 9 girls only.

All students in Year 8 (X25) have received HPV immunisation information and forms that are required to be read and signed by parents.  The immunisation programme has been expanded to include all boys in Year 8.  Please can the blue immunisations permission form be sent into school by Monday 27th January.  Whether the student is having the HPV injection or not the forms are still required to be signed and returned informing of your decision.

Year 9 girls only will receive their second doses on February 13th 2020

Year 8 students have been experimenting with oil pastels this term in their art sessions to create some beautiful sunset inspired blends. Can’t wait to see the finished pieces.

X25 Students working with the Conversation Club

Over the past two weeks students in X25 have been working with the Conversation Club.  A charity based in Doncaster that offers support to refugees and asylum seekers.  We have taken part in workshops about Migration and on Monday we had the privilege of meeting and interviewing people who are currently seeking asylum in Doncaster. Their stories gave us a real insight into the realities of migration and made us realise that the community of Doncaster can do more to help.

Our task now in X25 is to come up with ways we can help and put them into practice! After all… above all else is compassion!

X25 The Big Reveal

This week X25 have been working hard on their immersion for their new expedition. It has been an action packed week, starting with learning about film making with our expert Geoff Hewitt, to painting the opening of Anchor text, grappling with a map of migration and completing gallery walks. The week ended with the unveiling of the expedition and all it’s components.

So now, without further ado, our title of the expedition is Should I stay or should I go? with the guiding question:

Why should we care about Migration?

Over the next 14 weeks our students in X25 will be studying this expedition and working towards our final product which is to make a documentary about the topic of Migration.

This is going to be a fantastic opportunity for our students to engage with the community and I can’t wait to see what they will produce.

Watch this space!

X24 Presentation of Learning Reminder

We would just like to remind you that X24 Presentation of Learning for their current expedition ‘Life through a Lens’ will take place at XP School on Wednesday 10th July at 5pm.

This will be the final Presentation of Learning for Year 8, so it would be brilliant to see you there in support of our students.

Thank you

X24 Team

X24 Presentation of Learning Reminder

On Wednesday 8th May, students in X24 will be performing William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as their final product for the expedition REBELLION.

The performance will take place at 6pm at XP EAST. Please ensure you arrive in time to be seated before the performance starts.

Students in X24 will be expected to stay at school until the end of their Presentation of Learning. The reason for this is because this will allow time for the students to do a rehearsal before the evening performance. Therefore, please can you ensure that students bring enough food to fuel them for the evening.

If you have any concerns please do not hesitate to contact school.

We look forward to seeing you all tomorrow!

MANTRA visits XP

We’ve been really lucky this week to have the MANufacturing TRAnsport visiting from the Advanced Manufacturing Research Centre in Sheffield.  On Monday and Tuesday this week, students from XP and XP East have been able to experience something of the future of manufacturing and engineering on this fantastic lorry!  We’ve handled objects, used AR to investigate an engine and tried out virtual MIG welding.  Congratulations to Kelsea who was the champion welder with an impressive 91% score for the quality of her weld!

We’re looking forward to working again with the team from the AMRC and would like to appreciate them for their hard work in setting everything up and working with our students.
