Captain Sir Tom Moore’s 100 Challenge!

Friday 30th April 2021 saw Crew Macmillan take on Captain Sir Tom Moore’s 100 challenge – where we decided we wanted to raise £100, by walking 100 laps of the perimeter of XP.

We trialled it… and achieved 143 laps collectively. So crew showed courage; and challenged ourselves to complete 200 laps in Captain Tom’s honour. We got ourselves ready to go…

And guess what?

WE DID IT!

Collectively, we managed to achieve a grand total of 239  laps of the school in our 45 minute crew session… and we’ve also managed to raise £115 so far for Macmillan Cancer Support.

But one thing we had to draw on was the power of crew.

With only 12 members of crew present (including me!), it was always going to be a tough challenge. We knew if we didn’t push ourselves, and pull together as a crew, we probably wouldn’t hit our 200 target. So…

A HUGE appreciation to Crew Attenborough & Mrs Burns, to Crew Berger & Mr Jackson, to Mrs Spurr, to Bev, and to members of Crew King who came out to join us for a lap or 5! THAT is crew – your support and encouragement towards Crew Macmillan was absolutely astonishing. Thank you!

Also, I’d like to appreciate Imogen, Alfie, Isaac, Courtney & Heather – who took on extra laps by running as many as they could to ensure we met our target.

A huge thank you, too, to everyone who has donated to our fundraising challenge. Macmillan Cancer Support are an amazing charity, who support anyone and everyone who has been affected by cancer in some way.

If you’d like to donate to our Just Giving page to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support, our page is open until May 6th 2021.

Well done Crew Mac – a great effort for a great cause!
