Bronze Practice Expedition info:

Dear Parent or carer,

Please complete the Residential Visit Consent & Medical form that is being given out to students this week and return completed to school no later than the 17th April.

Students need to be at school on the Friday morning of their expedition for 7am. The RVCM form has their expedition date on it. We hope to be back at school on Saturday for 6pm. Any changes to the return time will posted on the school web site.

Students need to have a substantial breakfast at home on the Friday morning as they will be doing a lot of physical activity during day. They will also need to bring a packed lunch from home for the day too. All other food for the weekend has been planned in their groups including meals & snacks. No other food or sweets should be brought. I have modelled a typical expedition menu plan and gone through this with them. Food costs per group will vary however they will need approximately £10 each towards their group food costs.

There will be a full kit check on the Thursday before their expedition. They will need to bring all their kit into school including their group food where it will be checked and packed into their rucksacks. Please bring kit to school in a holdall which will stay at school to take kit home at the end of the expedition.

Please inform crew leaders of any illnesses or problems they may have in the week before their expedition.

Mobile phones and devices are not to be brought on expedition. If students are found with these items they will be confiscated and could fail the expedition. However each group will carry one smart phone for emergency contact and for taking photos, videos etc. This will be discussed and decided in their crew groups with their crew leader.

Please leave any valuable or sentimental belongings at home.

Students will be using XP equipment such as camping mats, sleeping bags and bag liners and will be responsible for looking after them personally. Any kit borrowed as a group such as tents, will be the group’s shared responsibility. Replacement or repair costs of damaged equipment may be passed onto the students.

Please keep checking the DofE page on the school web site for further updates, contact numbers for the expeditions.

Many thanks

Kate ap Harri
