Year 9 “Bridges” Fieldwork

Skipper are on fieldwork this Friday (6th Jan), and Admiral the following Monday (9th jan)

We will be outside for the most part of the day, so students will need to wrap up warm (layers are key in this cold weather), with raincoats (just in case) and sensible shoes.

A pack up will be needed, students will also need something to record information onto or into, a phone is ideal, but a trusty notebook will suffice.

Best wishes and a Happy New Year

Y9 Fieldwork 3rd and 4th Jan

Hello and happy new year to you all!

Just a reminder that Y9 Admiral will be out on fieldwork tomorrow, 3rd Jan and Y9 Skipper on Wednesday 4th Jan.

Please remember to bring a packed lunch, make sure you are wearing warm clothing (big coats, hats, gloves and scarves necessary) and wear comfortable footwear that you don’t mind getting dirty/muddy.

We will be leaving school at 8.30 and will arrive back at approximately 3.30, traffic permitting.

Year 9 Celebration of Learning

We will be hosting an Art Gallery Celebration of Learning to show the culmination of beautiful work that year 9’s have produced in the Guns, Germs and Steel expedition.

Please save the date for Thursday 15th December at 5:30pm til 6:30pm.

We look forward to seeing you there.

The Year 9 Expedition Team

Wilberforce Food Bank Drive

Saturday 19th December, a cold morning. One of our students did a very compassionate thing, when he saw a homeless man on the street. Instead of walking past him like the majority of people would, he helped him. He went to the local Greggs and bought a pizza slice, the man was silent but he was most definitely shocked at what Ethan did.

This has motivated Wilberforce Crew of XP to do something. We are now setting up a donation ‘bank’ exclusively for toys, essentials and food. When we collect enough items we will donate them to Doncaster and Mexborough foodbank.

A Food Bank is a non profit organisation that focuses on distributing food to those who cannot afford it. They store non-perishable food and distribute it for free to people in need.

This is a plea to our parents and friends of XP to buy one or two extra items in your next weekly shop in the hope that you’ll donate.

If you’d like to make a donation, please send this into school with your son or daughter who can pass this on to Wilberforce Crew.

We’re beginning with a single collection, and if all goes well we’d like to make this a termly event.

What you can donate!
Milk (UHT or powdered)
Sugar
Fruit juice (carton)
Soup
Pasta sauces
Sponge pudding (tinned)
Tomatoes (tinned)
Cereals
Rice pudding (tinned)
Tea Bags/instant coffee
Instant mash potato
Rice/pasta
Tinned meat/fish
Tinned fruit
Jam
Biscuits or snack bars

Essentials!!!
These things are important as they are full of proteins and vitamins for the body and restore your energy.

Students will be taking part in a charity fun run around the lake in fancy dress to raise money for ‘Stand up to cancer’. Students are invited to bring a suggested donation of £1 to wear fancy dress and complete the run/walk. There will also be face painting, hair colouring (non-permanent) and bake sale with all proceeds going to the charity. The fancy dress theme is ‘fairytale’, which just about covers everything!

Look forward to seeing everyone tomorrow!
