Year 7 Expert

Today, Colin from Age UK has been teaching Year 7 students about Dementia. At the end of the presentation students chose whether they Pledge to become a Dementia Friend. Dementia friends is a project run by Alzheimer’s Society to help everyone understand dementia so that people can live well with dementia and feel part of the community.

Year 7 Immersion in January

I am pleased to announce that Year 7 Humanities and Arts Immersion for the next expedition is to the Houses of Parliament in London.

Both Skipper and Admiral will need to be at school for 6.15am on 4th January and we are due to arrive back 7.30-8pm depending on traffic.

All students (bar those on free school meals) need to bring a packed lunch. Ā Students may want to bring some money with them, as there will be an opportunity to buy something to eat on the way home during theĀ stop at the service station.

We ask that students dress smartly for this visit, no jogging bottoms, hoodies, football shirts or hats of any form.

If you need any further information please contact myself via email [email protected]

All Together Now Final Product

During the Year 7 All Together Now expedition for 2015/16 students looked at examples of successful communities and unsuccessful communities and how they had come together to make it more successful. Students then produced a written reflection on the answer to the guiding question. They also produced a watercolour painting of an aspect of what they felt makes a successful community.

The final product for this expedition was anĀ e-book that has an edited section of their work alongside their painting. This is the e-book…

Year 7 students will be attending the launch of the Doncaster Book Awards at The Dome on the afternoon of the 5th October in order to hear from both authors and illustrators. This fieldwork opportunity will take place during normal school hours. Following the launch all students will have the opportunity toĀ read and review a range of the books that have been short listed for the award.
