Just a reminder that Year 7 are on fieldwork at Potteric Carr tomorrow and so will need the following:

Warm clothing

Waterproofs

Wellingtons/boots

Water bottle

Sun cream if the weather dictates.

Many thanks.

Students will have weekly extended study associated with fieldwork to complete a piece of reflective writing that describes their experience in the reserve. This should be completed each week for the Friday session.

Gurdwara visit

This Thursday Admiral and Skipper will be visiting the Gurdwara.  We need ALL students to bring a scarf to put over their head and to wear clean socks (with no holes!).

Students will need to ensure they wear appropriate clothing, so no tight fitting clothes and arms and legs need to be covered.

If you have an further questions please contact Miss Thornton at school.

Species Research homework: Due Wednesday 15th

This expedition we are working with Potteric Carr to produce a field guide.

All students have been given a different species today that can be found at Potteric Carr. Their homework is to research this species and produce a research document on it for next Wednesday.  A sample document and the homework document can be found on Google Classroom.

Amazing Grace

Grace Sellers and I made an appearance on BBC radio Sheffield, this morning to talk about To Kill a Mockingbird and our recent visit to the Lyceum theatre to watch the play.
Grace spoke with amazing clarity about the prejudice in Maycomb county and how Doncaster played a part in the slave trade.
Grace did an amazing job, well done.

Sheffield Hallam lecture/To Kill a Mockingbird

Humanities and Arts will be taking all students to have a lecture on Slavery at Sheffield Hallam University before going to the Lyceum theatre in Sheffield to see To Kill a Mockingbird.
Admiral will be visiting on Wednesday 28th January and Skipper on the following day, Thursday 29th January.
We are asking that student dress smartly for the theatre, therefore no joggers and where possible for students to wear their XP T-shirts.
Students will need to ensure they are equipped with their writing equipment for their visit to the University.
All students (apart from those on free school meals) will need to bring a packed lunch.
There will be opportunity for students to purchase refreshments at the theatre although these are often expensive.
We are hoping to return approximately 5.30pm to school although this depends on traffic.
