Day one – Year 9 Spanish Trip
An early start for Year 9 students, many hours travelling and passing through many checkpoints to get here, however I am pleased to say we all arrived safely in Barcelona. The way the students conducted themselves through what could of been a very stressful process was highly commendable and appreciated by all staff. Although very tired, the sun was shining and we were ready for the day.
Once we arrived we checked our bags in at the hostel and headed straight out to see all that Barcelona has to offer. First up we headed to a local shopping centre where the students were allowed to shop, explore and most importantly grab some food to fuel them for the day. Then to the Estadio Nou Camp (Barcelona Football Studium) for a tour around the stadium.
Following this, our tour guide Sunny took us to the bustling street of Las Ramblas and to the world famous food market La Boqueria. The students throughly enjoyed tasting the many Spanish delicacies that the market had to offer.
With tired eyes and tired feet we headed back to the hostel to enjoy a meal together and get some rest before another action packed day tomorrow.

X23 Injections

X23 (Year 9) students were today given letters each explaining the injections they are due very soon.  Please could parents/carers look over the letter and sign the consent form to say whether or not you would like your son/daughter to have the injections.  Students know the forms are to be handed into the school office as soon as possible, preferably by the end of this week. Thank you in advance for the speedy response.

During the first week back C23 students will be going on fieldwork to the East Yorkshire Coast to investigate the impact of nature on the land. On Wednesday the 14th March Admiral will be going followed by Skipper on Friday 16th March. Students will spend time on the beach at both locations.

We will be leaving at 8.45am and will return to school between 3.30pm and 4pm depending on the traffic. Students will be out of school all day and as a result will need a packed lunch and warm clothing – we would recommend that students have at least 3 layers- as well as a waterproof coat. Students who receive free school meals will be provided with a packed lunch.

If you have any queries please don’t hesitate to get in touch.

The Year 8 Team

Mrs Batty, Miss Robinson, Mr Blair and Mr Voltaire.

All year 7 students have been set a personalised set of MyMaths activities for the two week break.

These are designed to stretch, introduce new concepts or prepare students for FIX when they return to school.

To login, student use: xpschool rectangle137. To access “my portal” they have a 3 digit username and 3 letter password.

Students should complete the online lesson first for each activity before they attempt the homework task. They should aim to get 80%.

The deadline is 8pm on Monday 6th March. Students have have a varied number of exercises to do – around one per day over the two week break, so please encourage your son or daughter to do little and often. Each exercise typically takes around 20 mins.

If internet access is going to be a problem, if your son or daughter is struggling with the work, has lost their username and password or if they have any other problems, please get them to email me on [email protected]

Year 7 Presentation of Learning

The Year 7 presentation of learning for their current learning expedition will take place on the evening of Monday 12th December. We will have more details on exact timings in due course.

It is really important that every student attends, and has someone from their family come to the event to celebrate the incredible work that they are doing.
