Y11 (X24) Science – Staff Days

Due to advanced information released by Exam Boards, we are able to invite X24 students in during our staff days in March to complete some hands on science required practical experiments.

Students in both Admiral and Skipper will each be invited to a morning session and an afternoon session to complete these experiments.

A paper copy of these letters will also be sent home with an attendance slip to complete – we ask that these are returned by Monday 7th March please.

C24/Y11 Mock Exam Timetable

Y11 will be sitting their second round of mocks when they return to school after the half-term break. This timetable should help students to plan and manage their revision.

More revision resources and general information for parents can be found on our C24 Revision Support Website.

Subject teachers have also uploaded revision tasks onto their google classrooms, so students have plenty of resources to help them.

C24 (Y11) Community Meeting

We say this all the time, but Y11 really are doing us both proud! We had some wonderful praise postcards yet again as part of this week’s community meeting, and it’s lovely to see some different names this week.

Well done Y11 – keep working hard, getting smart and being kind. We’re really impressed!

C24 (Y11): key dates and information update

Just a quick update on some key information and upcoming dates for our Y11 students (including those all important GCSE dates!)

Firstly, we’d like to massively appreciate those students who are attending in-school and after-school revision sessions, including D6 on Saturday. There is no doubt that this level of commitment to their learning will be reflected in their final grades. Our current revision session timetable is here, but is being updated with more sessions which we’ll publish once finalised.

Although these are optional at the moment, we are targeting specific students to attend and we ask that parents support this. Teachers will be in touch with students and their parents with details of when they need to attend extra revision sessions.

In addition to focussed revision sessions, we are pleased to announce that Extended Study is back up and running for Y11 students Monday-Thursdays, 3.15-4.30. This means that students can stay for an extra hour after school to complete any extended study that’s been set or work on revision tasks with support from staff, away from any potential distractions at home. Please note that this is just for our Y11 students at the moment, but we’re hoping to offer to other year groups soon.

Here’s a quick look at some key upcoming dates – further information about each of these events will be published in separate blog posts:

1st Feb – 11th FebStudent led conferences
3rd FebruaryGCSE revision information evening for Y11 parents
21st Feb – 4th MarchMock exams 2
16th May – 24th JuneGCSEs (full timetable will be published at a later date!)

With thanks, as ever, for your continued support.

A busy morning at D6!

It is absolutely fantastic to see so many Y11s here at D6 this morning, especially as it meant dragging themselves out of their warm and cosy beds on such a cold and frosty Saturday morning!

We’ve got about 20 students here either undertaking independent study or taking advantage of the support on offer from our Student Coaches to produce some high quality revision notes.

Some of the boys have even snuck in a game of chess during a ‘brain break’ – still developing their mathematical and critical thinking skills 😉

D6 runs every Saturday morning during term time, 9am-12.30pm, over at XP. East. It is open to all Y10 and Y11 students.

Working hard and getting smart – that’s what we like to see!

Keep up the fantastic work, Y11 – we’re so proud of you!

Year 11 Study+!

After an active PE lesson, Year 11 have knuckled down and produced some quality work during our study+ sessions. Skipper are in a science session, and admiral are split into small groups for independent study, history and maths. Check out some high quality revision from our wonderful Y11s – Kate, Ashley, Ricki, Loris, Imogen, Isaac and Alfie!

Great work, Year 11 – Keep working hard!!!!

Y11 ‘Learn2Earn’ Revision Rewards Launch!

Yesterday, we launched our Learn2Earn Revision Rewards scheme to Y11 as a way of recognising the hard work and commitment of those students who are attending our lunchtime and after-school GCSE revision sessions (and perhaps encourage some of our other students to attend, too!)

So, what is Learn2Earn?

  • A rewards ‘loyalty’ scheme for revision – the more sessions students attend, the more points they earn!
  • After 5 sessions, students receive a small ‘reward’…
  • After 10 sessions, students receive a medium ‘reward’…

All completed cards will be entered into a ‘big CREW reward’ prize draw – so the more crew participate in sessions, the more chance their crew have of winning the ‘bigger prize’ at the end of Y11!

Here is our current revision timetable. Please note this is currently under review and we’ll be adding more sessions soon:

Don’t forget that Y11 – and Y10 – students can also attend D6 on a Saturday morning, from 9am – 12:30pm, which is back up and running this weekend (15th January). D6 provides students with a relaxed and informal study space working alongside our expert Student Coaches. We are expecting these to get busier as GCSEs get closer (16th May – 24th June.)

We look forward to seeing lots of students there!!!
