C25 [Y11] Mock Results

Year 11 students will receive their mock exam results tomorrow morning (Tuesday 10th January) during crew time in the style of a results day.

They will receive a transcript with their results before returning to crews to debrief.

Please discuss these results with your child – they will be reported home formally along with student snapshots of HoWLs in the coming week – these snapshots will include a narrative around the exams which have been administered.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your child’s crew leader in the first instance, subject teachers, or Miss Cocliff/Mrs Parker/Mrs Poncia.

Please be aware that all revision sessions have now resumed – and our Saturday provision, D6, will be starting on January 14th.

Thanks!

X25 (Y11) Fieldwork – Doncaster Plant Works

As part of Y11’s History course, we have a wonderful opportunity to visit the site of Wabtec in Doncaster – which was formerly Doncaster Plant Works – a massive part of our heritage! One of the history GCSE papers Y11 will sit is based around this local site and we’re really privileged to be able to visit the birth place of both The Mallard and the record breaking Flying Scotsman – where students will gain a real insight into the site’s significance, both locally and nationally.

ALL of X25 will be attending on Tuesday 17th January 2023. Admiral’s fieldwork will take place in the morning, leaving XP at 9:15am and returning at around 11:30am. Admiral will be in sessions as normal in the afternoon.

Skipper’s fieldwork will take place in the afternoon – leaving XP at 1:30pm and returning back to XP for around 3:00pm. Skipper will be in sessions as normal in the morning.

Lunches should not be affected, but students may wish to bring a packed lunch. We have now secured a coach to take us to and from Wabtec.

If you have any questions/queries, please contact crew leaders, or the following:

Mrs Hannam – History Lead – at [email protected], or Miss Cocliff – X25 Phase Lead – at [email protected].

X25 Get To Work!

X25 completed their work experience last week and it has been great to have a check in to see what they have all been doing. I think some members of year 11 really got an insight into the type of job they might want to go into within the next few years and also the working life. It was fantastic to hear such great feedback from their work experience employers who commented on how hard students were working, how they would offer them a job and how punctual they were to start the day!

X25 are now back on it- focussed ready for their Mock exams that are due to start in a couple of weeks.

Great work year 11 – keep it up!

C25 Praises from Community Meeting

Awesomeness community meetings are ALWAYS our favourites! It’s so lovely to see staff appreciating students for their hard work during the week, and to hear students making appreciations, apologies and stands! We also heard some great pledges for moving into next term – such as aiming to increase Work Hard grades, aiming to improve getting smart grades with revision, and attending learning labs during lunchtime and after school.

Check out the magnificent amount of praise postcards for Y11 this week, in our final awesomeness community meeting of this half term! Kyle stole the show this week! Well done!

We’re super proud of you 🙂

X25 shaking it off!

X25 Crews have been working really hard. We have started to revise An Inspector Calls on Tranquil Tuesday recapping what we know about the characters and key facts about the play. We are also reading the play in crew. Yesterday crews also started to look for where they can complete their work experience, thinking about where they want to go and then crafting emails to contact them.

Due to their hard work in crew last Thursday we decided to wake everyone up with an exercise class. Members of X25 joined in with Just Dance- which was fantastic!

It was a great way to start the day….Keep up the good work!!

X25 Working Hard and Getting Smart

X25 have made a fantastic start to the academic year. They have started to read A Christmas Carol in English making some brilliant notes about the start of the book and analysing the description of Scrooge. In Science they have been completing an experiment to observe a cell using a microscope, creating some great diagrams of what cells look like.

Students have done really well at bringing their equipment to sessions which is imperative to make sure they are competing the work to the best of their ability.

Keep up the good work X25!

C25: Coastal Walk on 30th August 2022

As ever, we will be kicking off our first week back at school by regrouping and rebooting Crew.

On the very first day back – Tuesday 30th August – our C25 (new Y11) students will be going on a coastal walk to Flamborough.

Students should arrive at school between 8am-8.15am so that we can leave at 8.30am.  We are aiming to be back at school by 3.30pm, but will keep you updated on the day.

All students will be expected to bring the Outdoor Kit listed below:

  • Appropriate rucksack for walking.
  • Packed lunch (those on FSM will be provided with a school pack lunch.)
  • Water bottle: approx 2 litres (no energy drinks, milkshakes or fizzy pop)
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Appropriate walking trousers/shorts/leggings for the weather.
  • Walking top/base layer; made from synthetic, man made material (polyester, nylon etc). This type of material removes sweat away from your skin keeping you cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather
  • Appropriate outdoor shoes (sturdy trainers, walking shoes or walking boots are compulsory – no open toe sandals, canvas shoes or sliders)
  • Sun hat/Sun cream
  • Medication

For further information or questions please email your child’s crew leader.

Crew Tomlinson Bike-a-thon

Crew Tomlinson are really excited to be completing their first charity fundraiser next Monday. We have set ourselves a massive challenge of trying to bike coast to coast in a day (on an exercise bike!) We particularly wanted to complete a physical activity due to our crew taken our name from Jane Tomlinson. We are wanting to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice to help them carry on helping so many families. The just giving page is linked below if anyone can sponsor anything it would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks so much for the people who have already donated. We will update you with how we do!

Crew Tomlinson on Time

Over the last few weeks crew have recently worked really hard on making sure they are at school on time in a morning. We have understood the importance of making sure we are on time and the impacts it can have if not on time. A particular well done to Danny and Mollie whose punctuality has massively improved.

Crew have also looked recently looked through praises over the last few weeks with some members of crew having a fantastic number of praises from sessions some examples of praise is for students reading a part in Macbeth, producing beautiful work in Art and fantastic effort in Spanish.

It’s great to see the hard work of crew! Keep it up everyone.
