C25: Coastal Walk on 30th August 2022

As ever, we will be kicking off our first week back at school by regrouping and rebooting Crew.

On the very first day back – Tuesday 30th August – our C25 (new Y11) students will be going on a coastal walk to Flamborough.

Students should arrive at school between 8am-8.15am so that we can leave at 8.30am.  We are aiming to be back at school by 3.30pm, but will keep you updated on the day.

All students will be expected to bring the Outdoor Kit listed below:

  • Appropriate rucksack for walking.
  • Packed lunch (those on FSM will be provided with a school pack lunch.)
  • Water bottle: approx 2 litres (no energy drinks, milkshakes or fizzy pop)
  • Waterproof jacket
  • Appropriate walking trousers/shorts/leggings for the weather.
  • Walking top/base layer; made from synthetic, man made material (polyester, nylon etc). This type of material removes sweat away from your skin keeping you cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather
  • Appropriate outdoor shoes (sturdy trainers, walking shoes or walking boots are compulsory – no open toe sandals, canvas shoes or sliders)
  • Sun hat/Sun cream
  • Medication

For further information or questions please email your child’s crew leader.

Thanks!

Crew Tomlinson Bike-a-thon

Crew Tomlinson are really excited to be completing their first charity fundraiser next Monday. We have set ourselves a massive challenge of trying to bike coast to coast in a day (on an exercise bike!) We particularly wanted to complete a physical activity due to our crew taken our name from Jane Tomlinson. We are wanting to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice to help them carry on helping so many families. The just giving page is linked below if anyone can sponsor anything it would be gratefully appreciated. Thanks so much for the people who have already donated. We will update you with how we do!

Crew Tomlinson on Time

Over the last few weeks crew have recently worked really hard on making sure they are at school on time in a morning. We have understood the importance of making sure we are on time and the impacts it can have if not on time. A particular well done to Danny and Mollie whose punctuality has massively improved.

Crew have also looked recently looked through praises over the last few weeks with some members of crew having a fantastic number of praises from sessions some examples of praise is for students reading a part in Macbeth, producing beautiful work in Art and fantastic effort in Spanish.

It’s great to see the hard work of crew! Keep it up everyone.

Crew Stan Lee Pledges

This morning, Crew Stan Lee have been doing some excellent work on their Crew pledges.

Crew pledges are a promise you make to perform an action such as getting to Crew on time or pledging to help other students. The rest of Crew hold these pledges to account and challenge Crewmates who do not follow the pledges they make and ensure they follow them to the best of their ability. Students who follow their pledges are often noticed and praised by their peers as well as their Crew Leader.

This crew blog has been written by James one of our crew members.
Well done James.

X25 DofE Fridays-Skill

We hope everyone has had a great half term and ready for the next term. As part of the students Duke of Edinburgh silver award they will be completing an hour towards their skill award on Friday afternoons. At the end of last term students chose which skill they wanted to complete. Students have chosen between sewing, beauty and board games.

We have a couple of board games in school but would be great if you have any at home that we can borrow for students to make the most of this time.

We are really looking forward to the students completing their DofE.

Thanks

X25 crew leaders.

Students today and tomorrow who hold prescribed medication at school will be handed back their medication.  Students who require medication to be taken at school in the new term 2021/22 will be required to fill in the medication form.

The Google form is required to be filled in and then press send.  This then gives staff consent to administer medication and for it to be kept on school premises.

Please ensure Inhalers, Epi-pens and other prescribed medications are sent into school with the child’s name and expiry date clearly visible.

Physical Friday, X25 Duke of Edinburgh Award

X25 took part in a selection of sports activities on Friday afternoon which will contribute towards their Bronze Duke of Edinburgh award scheme. Students had to pick from futsal, rounders or a 5km walk/run. The weather stayed nice and dry with even a bit of sunshine coming through the clouds.

All the students were amazing and everyone took part in something. It was great to see on a Friday afternoon.

Believe in yourself Crew!

Crew have had a busy few weeks since returning to school and they have all made a fabulous start to the new term, which they kick started with a meditative mindful session.

It gave them all time to press reset and recharge so they could hit the ground running upon their return. It was a great chance to sit back and let them hear all the positive thoughts and feelings that they each have about their Crew. They are all so proud and supportive of each other. It also gave the opportunity for them to close their eyes and relax before the busy week ahead.

If you look closely you can see that some have their eyes tightly closed and are totally getting ‘into the zone’. Unfortunately the session was not long enough so round two will take place this week.
