X24 Fieldwork 2nd and 3rd April

X24 students will be out on fieldwork for two days next week.

On Tuesday 2nd April we will be travelling to Sheffield as part of the immersion for our new STEAM expedition.  The fieldwork will take place during the day so students should arrive at school at the normal time.  Lunch will be provided.

On Wednesday 3rd April we will be on Humanities fieldwork but will need to leave school at 8am and will arrive back at 4.15pm  Students will need to bring a packed lunch and should have coats and sensible shoes for walking outside as there will be a 10 minute walk from the coach stop to our destination.

Teen Tech 2019

Nine students from E24, X24 and X23 took time out from their relaxing half term break today to come along to the Teen Tech event held at the National College for High Speed Rail and hosted by Maggie Philbin.

We met and worked with engineers, scientists and technology designers to complete a series of challenges throughout the day.  Freddi managed to breakdown and reassemble a mechanical seal in one of the fastest times of the day and all our students presented their idea for an Eco Bubble, a device that would allow damaged areas of coral reef or other endangered habitats to recover whilst offering a relaxing VR experience for virtual holiday makers!

We really enjoyed the day and gained some insights into careers in Science, Technology and Engineering.

X24 Praise Butterflies

It’s fantastic to see our X24 students working so hard during our first week back.  Praise butterflies this week were awarded to Isaac, Vinnie, Aaisha, Chris, Jaggy, Courtney, Kyra, Bella, Charlotte, Milla, Charlie and Harpreet.  Butterflies were awarded by staff and by students for consistent hard work, being kind, showing compassion and in one case – for being epic!

Well done everyone!
