X21 mock examination results

X21 students have recently completed their mock examinations.

We will be holding a mock results day at XP School Monday 4th February between 9.00am and 10.00am.

Students must arrive in school between these times to collect their results. During this time crew leaders and senior staff will be available to have informal discussions with students.

We encourage families to attend with their sons or daughters where possible. The purpose of the morning is not just to give students the results for their mocks, but also to give students an experience of what the results day in August will feel like.

Following the results day, we will invite each student and their family into school during the weeks commencing 11th and 18th February for a formal individual ‘results conference’.

In attendance at each student’s results conference will be their family, crew leader and other staff where appropriate. During this conference students will present their reflection on their results, identifying strengths and gaps in knowledge. Each student will then agree a set of targets and a plan with their crew leader and family. Crew leaders will also be able to direct parents and family members to workshops in the following week (see below).

In the week commencing 25th February, lead teachers for core subjects will be running workshops for parents and family members after school in the evening. In these workshops, parents and family members will be given specific advice on how to support their son or daughter. All family members are welcome at any of these workshops. However, during the results conferences in the prior weeks crew leaders will give advice on which specific workshops we would like families to attend.

X21 Mock Examinations

X21 will be undertaking GCSE Mock Examinations on their return tomorrow – I’m sure they can’t wait!

Monday will be a Walking Talking Mock for English with the Spanish Speaking Exams filling Monday afternoon and all day Tuesday and Wednesday.

All the exams are based in XP East and times and rooms are included in the Timetable below. There are Pre Exam sessions taking place when key staff will ensure that students are prepared with a final session before they sit down for the exam.

Good luck X21!![gview file=”https://cdn.realsmart.co.uk/8fcb5ef6413072ba30cbe25fbf839dfb/uploads/2019/01/X21-January-2019-Mock-Examinations.pdf”]

C21 Science extra sessions start next week

Dear Y11 Parents,

Science extra sessions will start for all students next week. They are either Wednesday, Thursday or Friday. This round of sessions will focus on content which students have not covered in their expeditions so it is vital all students attend so that they are prepared for their mock exams in January.

If there are any issues please let me know.

Thanks

Mr Campbell

C21 Preparation for Y11

Students have a small amount of revision to do over the summer for science. The work covers some of the fundamental knowledge which needs to be retained. This will allow students to make a running start to the year and will help us maximise the time available before their exams next year. Many students are confident with the ideas already so this will require very little work.

Secondly, there are some students who have not completed their ‘answer to the guiding question’ in science. It is important that students complete this before we return. It will be a challenging year for students next year as it is, so it would be beneficial for students not to have to catch up work on previous expeditions.

Finally, I do appreciate there will be weeks where Tassomai can not be done and that the most important thing for students is that they have a rest this holiday, however if Tassomai can be kept ticking over it would be useful to students.

I would be really grateful your support with this.

To both students and families, please have a wonderful summer and enjoy the deserved rest.

Mr Campbell

C21 Extended Study

Students have been set a note taking task on google classroom that is to be completed by Friday. They will need to read the following information from http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/history/mwh/ir1/chamberlainandappeasementrev1.shtml  and produce their own notes in order to build their contextual understanding around the start of WW2.

Year 10 Fieldwork: Yorkshire Museum

Year 10 will be undertaking fieldwork this week at Yorkshire Museum in York as part of their Raiders and Invaders expedition. Both classes will visit the museum but on different days.

Skipper: Wednesday

Admiral: Thursday

Students will travel by minibus and will depart at 09.15 and return to school in time for lunch, arriving at 12.30.

This means that there will be no change to the normal school day and students are not required to bring a packed lunch.

We politely ask that students arrive with outdoor clothing and comfortable footwear, writing and note taking equipment and devices to take pictures. If you have any questions or queries, as usual please don’t hesitate to get in touch. Send an email to Mrs Batty or Mr Voltaire.

Many thanks
