This World Book Day, Crew Brunel brought Alice in Wonderland to life by dressing up as iconic characters from the classic tale. From Alice herself to the Cheshire Cat, the team fully embraced the playful magic of Wonderland while promoting the joy of reading. Their creative costumes were a fun way to inspire imagination and encourage everyone to explore the world of books.
This week in PE has been full of amazing sporting acheivements. On Monday we visited Armthorpe with year 10 boys football, the team dominated possession throughout the game however a last minute goal unfortunately meant we lost 1-0. Wednesday evening the year 7/8 football team travelled to Trinity and won both games, huge well done. The year 8 netball team went to their netball tournament at Hayfield, we had some tough games but the team continued to play amazingly. Well done to all our teams this week.
During PE lessons this week we have had Doncaster Knights in to deliver some rugby sessions. The students have been developing their skills of attacking and defending.

During crew hour on Wednesday this week as a crew we had decided to make pancakes together. Watching the students collaborate in the kitchen, share responsibilities, and enjoy the process together was a great reminder of the positive relationships we’re continuing to build within our crew.
It was nice to see how they supported each other—whether it was flipping pancakes or deciding on toppings. These moments of teamwork help strengthen communication and trust among the crew members, creating an atmosphere of cooperation and friendship. It’s a simple, yet effective way for them to bond and grow as a team.
We’re excited to continue these positive connections in future Crew Hour activities, as they help build a strong foundation of mutual respect.
Keep it up Crew Lovelace, I wonder what we can make next term?
My name is Kathryn Burns and I am the Careers Lead for XP Trust. I have the pleasure of launching our C28 to students, crew leaders and parents on Wednesday 12th March 4pm – 5pm. Parents and students to meet on XP East stairs where I will share information about expectations, responsibilities and support.
As you may already be aware, in year 10 our students carry out a short experience into the world of work to support their preparation for GCSEs and moving forward as they progress through Year 11 and beyond.
This year we are planning a week off timetable 7th – 11th July with a wrap around the work experience to give them a taste of applications, interviews and workshops alongside the external experience, followed up by a reflective piece of work and CV building.
As a trust we feel that it is important for our students to experience this alongside qualifications and other activities beyond the classroom, such as the Duke of Edinburgh bronze award. Our aim has always been to support parents in developing young people who are able to communicate, have resilience and the transferable skills that the business community are looking for in today’s society.
I look forward to seeing you there as our young people step up and show local employers how amazing XP Doncaster students are.
As many agencies now ask for parents to have engaged with services such as Early Help or parenting courses before being placed on a pathway or seeking professional support, we are sharing this information we have had in the hope of supporting parents.
This morning Crew Peake and Crew Sinfield celebrated a great start to the term by spending crew in the sports hall. Students completed a game of corner football.
It was fantastic to see students working together and encouraging team members to keep going.
We ended the session with students sharing apologies and appreciations.
Brilliant start to the week and we both hope crews will continue to increase their praises and have the best term!
This week in PE we started our new enrichment timetable, which saw an large number of students attending. Let keep it up.
