Year 11 X28 Crew Pasteur catch – up

Mrs N Sprakes

Crew Pasteur have been busy since we came back from after half term, preparing for mocks, sitting them, and waiting for the results to come out. Mrs Earp and I would like to appreciate Crew for their preparation, in particular their work on History every week in Crew, which has supported them in their sessions and mock exams. It was an exciting morning last Thursday when results were issued, with plenty of success. This is a great experience and grounding for the next set of mocks, keep working hard Crew!

Last week was full of amazing after school fixtures.

Year 7 and 9 netball teams hosted Ridgewood, all students were excellent representatives from XP and XP East. Year 9 produced some amazing netball and won their match, unfortunately year 7 were not as lucky and just missed out. Well done to our sports leaders for supporting umpiring the matches. We had two outstanding players of the match from attack and defence. Well done , keep it up.

On the same night we also hosted the year 7 and 8 girls central venue football tournament. Huge well done to the Year 7/8 football team on winning all 3 of their matches. Absolute superstars.

X31 Learning Showcase: What Does It Mean to Be Human?

We are excited to announce that X31 will be presenting their learning on Monday 15th December from 4:00–5:00pm. This special event will celebrate the incredible work students have completed throughout their Being Human learning expedition.

Over the past term, X31 learners have explored what it means to be human, investigating identity, empathy, relationships, challenges, and the shared experiences that connect us all. Guided by their guiding question, “What does it mean to be human?”, students have engaged in deep thinking, thoughtful discussion, and creative expression.

This will be a meaningful and inspiring event, and we would love to see our community there to support and celebrate the hard work of X31.

We look forward to welcoming you on 15th December!

Thanks Year 8 Team

Crew Brunel: Rockstars, Reflections and Remarkable Achievements!

What a brilliant week it’s been for Crew Brunel! Even though the week started a little differently, we certainly made the most of every moment.

Because Monday was a staff day, students enjoyed a longer weekend — and we kicked off Tuesday by checking in and sharing what we all got up to during the extra time off. From family days out to chilled time at home, it was a lovely way to reconnect and ease back into the school routine.

We then continued our important Passage work, focusing on how our character has grown through Years 7 and 8. Students took time to look inward, thinking about how they’ve changed, matured, and what they’ve overcome. These reflections are shaping their Passage presentations beautifully and helping them recognise their own development.

This week marked the start of our Wise Wednesday presentations, with our first two groups stepping up to deliver their topics. The rest of Crew Brunel listened carefully, shared thoughtful feedback, and offered WWWs (What Went Well) and EBIs (Even Better If) to help each other improve. We’re already excited to see the next two groups take their turn!

Later in the week, we reviewed our praises and conducts, then dug into our HoWLs (Habits of Work and Learning) assessments from Years 8 and 9. This helped students reflect on their consistency, their growth, and where they want to push themselves next. We also weaved these insights into their Passage presentations.

In Friday’s community meeting, we celebrated students who topped the praise leaderboard — a special shout-out goes to Rowena, who placed top of the leaderboard for Year 9! A fantastic achievement and well-deserved recognition of her dedication, hard work, and consistent positive attitude both in and out of sessions.

This Week’s Highlight

Without a doubt, the standout moment of the week was Thursday Night Live. Four members of Crew Brunel – Lily, Pippa, Brooke and Chloe – took to the stage as part of a band and performed in front of a live audience. With singing, guitar and drums, they absolutely smashed it. Their confidence, talent and teamwork shone through — true rockstars in the making. Well done, girls!

Just a reminder that XP Y11’s Teacher-Student Led conferences are taking place TODAY, Wednesday, 3rd December 2025 at XP East.

These conferences will provide parents with an opportunity to meet with subject-specific teachers, allow students to discuss and reflect on their progress in different subjects following their recent mock exams and look at areas for development as they move through Y11.

Students have been given a booking form which will allow them to book a time between 14:30 and 17:30. These have been booked on a first come first served basis, so please ask your child to see their booking form and suggest a time to meet teaching staff.

We look forward to seeing you this evening!
