Doncaster College Taster Day

C25 students attended a taster day at Doncaster College on Tuesday 28th June 2022. The year 10 students attended a session of their choosing where they discovered how that course is delivered at the college and were given a small taste of college life. They had the opportunity to tour the extended site to give them an insight into everything that the college can offer on their 16-18 programme and also the university centre. They also had lunch and attended a lecture theatre where they learned more about what Doncaster College deliver in both technical courses, T levels and apprenticeships. The students came away from the day smiling and full of ideas about the next step in their academic journey once they complete GCSEs next year and fly the XP/East nest. Doncaster College Taster Day Tuesday 28th June

On Tuesday year 10 from both schools will be attending a Doncaster College taster day for our wonderful C25 students. All students are advised to bring a packed lunch; if free school meals then a lunch voucher will be provided by the college. Coach leaves school at 8.45 and students will be back in school before the end of the school day. Students have been emailed their schedule and dress code, safety boots are provided where necessary. Each student will have an opportunity to get a taste of the subject they chose and a tour of the campus. The college’s recent Ofsted gave them good with several outstanding elements and have a large range of non A level subjects and apprenticeships available. https://www.don.ac.uk/school-leavers/. C24 Virtual Work Experience

I am excited to say we are having our first Virtual Work Experience day at XP and XP East tomorrow 8th July. This will be for all our year 10 students at both school including the ones unable to attend at the moment, so a fully inclusive event. We have been lucky enough to have the opportunity to have a full day of employer based presentations and workshops. Students from XP East who are at home will be sent a link and Miss Parker and myself will support them through the day and the students in school will be supported by staff. This is an amazing opportunity to look through the lens of work with some key sectors onboard for the experience. As Careers Lead for both schools, I am super excited to be planning a range of Further Education and Careers opportunities for the next academic year so please watch this space for updates.

X24 & E24 College taster day postponed

Unfortunately due to circumstances beyond our control Doncaster College have taken the difficult decision to postpone XP & XP East’s taster day until the next academic year. This delay is due to an increase in Covid cases and acting on Local authority guidance. I know the students were looking forward to this opportunity however their safety is our first priority.

As Careers Lead for both schools I would like to take this opportunity to thank staff for their support and assure parents/carers that these opportunities and more are planned for  2021/22 as they head into year 11. We are working with local Further education providers and  businesses to create meaningful insights into their options for the next steps on their academic journey.
