Expedition Update: X32 Fieldwork to Hyde Park Cemetery

Launching Our New Expedition with Real-World Immersion

Dear X32 Parents and Guardians,

We are thrilled to be launching our new expedition with a powerful fieldwork visit. To ground the students in the learning and provide immediate real-world context, X32 students will be traveling to Hyde Park Cemetery to engage with the legacy project left by the previous C31 cohort. This is a crucial first step in building the foundation for their own final product.

Key Fieldwork Details

ClassDate of Trip

Export to Sheets

  • Destination: Hyde Park Cemetery
  • Activity Focus: Engaging with the C31 final product. This involves an audio element, requiring students to bring their own headphones.
  • Travel Method: The entire class will be walking to and from the cemetery.

Important: Timing and Contact

Please note that this fieldwork is scheduled to take place entirely within the normal school day. This means:

  • School Start/End Times: Remain the same.
  • Lunch: Will be provided as normal during the school day.

Urgent Questions: Please direct all urgent enquiries regarding this fieldwork to the Expedition Lead: Mr. Jake Eagle, via the school office.

Student Preparation Checklist

As we will be spending time outdoors in January and walking to the site, appropriate preparation is vital for your child’s comfort and safety:

  1. Headphones: Essential for engaging with the audio component of the C31 legacy work.
  2. Warm Coat: A warm, waterproof, or weather-appropriate coat is mandatory.
  3. Appropriate Footwear: Please ensure your child wears sturdy, comfortable footwear suitable for walking and being outdoors on potentially uneven ground (e.g., strong trainers, walking boots).
  4. Layers: Encourage your child to dress in layers to stay warm.

Thank you for your cooperation and support as we begin this exciting expedition journey!

X32 – Year 7 XP: Authors in the Making!

Our Year 7 students have been working incredibly hard on crafting their historical narratives this week, and the creativity on display has been fantastic!

Students have been critiquing each other’s work, offering fab feedback, and sharing ideas to help one another improve. The atmosphere in sessions has been buzzing with collaboration and imagination as everyone pushes themselves (and each other!) to make their writing as powerful as possible.

We were also joined in Session 5 today by some of our Year 11 experts; Leo, Joseph, and Alfie, who spent time coaching the younger students, offering guidance, and providing expert critique. Their advice and encouragement really inspired Year 7 to keep raising the bar.

With so much talent, hard work, and support flying around, it’s safe to say we’ve got some future published authors in the making. Watch this space…

Year 7 Stepping Back in Time.. X32’s beautiful work!

Year 7 have kicked off exploring their first case study, Raiders and Rulers! This has taken them back to 1066, a year that changed the course of British history.

In English, they’ve been exploring the themes of love and conflict in A Midsummer Night’s Dream, discovering how Shakespeare’s ideas still connect with us today. Alongside this, in History students have been debating who had the strongest claim to the throne: Harold, William, Hardrada, or Edgar.

We are super impressed with the HOWLS being displayed in Year 7. Take a look at some of their beautiful work below!
