As part of our crew mission, and our current expedition product, crew headed out to the lake at Doncaster Lakeside to clean up the area – and protect the wildlife in the water! We had some great conversations around why keeping waterways clean is so important.
We managed to collect 6 bags full of litter from around the area – in only 15 minutes!!!
We’ll be heading back out soon to continue this work – it’s so important for us, and helps us to have a positive impact on our community! Great work, team!
…P.S…. George has absolutely nailed the ‘disapproving look’ after seeing the amount of litter around the area – he’s Mr Morrison’s double!!!

Year 7’s current expedition ‘Hold Back the River’ has the guiding question, ‘How does water shape our world?’
During this expedition, our geography content is focusing on river characteristics from source to mouth, river processes, formation of landforms as well as the cause, impacts and responses of flooding. As part of this, we are applying the theory of river processes and characteristics to the field.
On Tuesday 2nd (East) and Thursday 4th (XP) of July, students will visit Endcliffe park in Sheffield. They will work together to collect data regarding the width, depth, velocity and load of rivers. We will also be capturing the beauty of a river by completing artwork. This data collection will allow us to accept or reject our hypothesis once we have analysed our data in our maths lessons.
Students will need to arrive at school no later than 8.00am so that the register and kit check can be completed before leaving school.
It is also essential that all students bring all of the kit on the KIT LIST so that they are fully prepared for the fieldwork; this includes a packed lunch and water to drink. Students who receive free school meals will be provided with a lunch.
Students will need to ensure they have suitable walking boots/trainers as well as wellies or a pair of trainers they can get wet – we’ll be going in the river to collect the data! If there are any problems in getting the appropriate kit before this, please email your child’s Crew Leader.
Students will be returning to school by the end of the school day (traffic dependent).

On the last Friday before half term, students from XP Doncaster performed their original composition ‘Like A Storm’ in the magnificent ‘Luminarium’ at Right Up Our Street’s Doncaster Festival of Colour.
As part of ‘LOOL’ music sessions, Year 10 students have worked really hard to write this piece of music with Skinny Pelembe and Higher Rhythm as part of the Noise Collective project.

We are really proud of what they have achieved over the last few months – they’ve created beautiful work and developed a true sense of Crew in music.
Beautiful work from LKS2s most recent Expedition ‘There Is No Planet B’ has been curated on three signs in Carcroft! Their guiding question was ‘How can we protect our wonderful world?’.
Their learning focussed on the climate emergency and the impact that humanity is having on the environment, as well as what can be done to prevent further damage and protect the planet. The curated signs they have created not only celebrate the beautiful work they have done during the Expedition, but also make a stand about a persistent issue with local fly tipping.
Students have created helpful guides on recycling as an alternative to tipping and how this can benefit the community as a whole.
Friends of Norton Campus Association organised a community football match – parents versus teachers at Askern Miner’s Welfare Ground. Teachers were joined by some of Doncaster Rovers coaches and staff from Green Top – a real crew effort. The match was a tight game with both teams really wanting the win but at the final whistle it was the teachers that took home the trophy!
Friends of Norton Campus organised food, face painting and activities for the children – we even had a special visit from Donny Dog! We were supported with over two hundred members of the local community resulting in a really fantastic event.

Y5 parents please find attached an event you can attend to find out more about XP and XP East.
Please note this is not for Y6 students who have already been allocated their school.

Parents are invited to attend Y10’s Teacher-Student Led conferences on Tuesday 25th June.
These conferences will provide parents with an opportunity to meet with subject-specific teachers, allow students to discuss and reflect on their progress in different subjects following their recent mock exams and look at areas for development as they move into Y11.
Students will be given a booking form to share with you which will allow you to book a time between 15:30 and 18:30. These will be booked on a first come first served basis so please ask your child to see their booking form and suggest a time to meet teaching staff.
We look forward to seeing you soon!
