Admiral Strata Homework
Students need to add four diagrams to their STEM books.
1. The formation of layers of different rocks over millions of years.
2. The folding of the rocks in Britain, dipping to the South East.
3. The weathering and erosion of rocks.
4. Strata found at the surface.

Students need to access the school website using their school usernames and passwords.
They should then click on the “Rock On!” button. This will take them to the expedition website. There is a link from here that says texts. On the texts page there is a video called “James Hutton: Thinking Like a Scientist”.
Student should watch this video, then in their STEM books answer the following question:
“How did James Hutton think like a Scientist?”
Use some of the following keywords in your paragraph:
Theory, Evidence, Idea, Connections, Prediction, Curiosity, Observation, Question, Presentation
Student without internet access have been given a transcript of the video.
Admiral STEM Homework: 17th September
You should write this following your crayon rock write-up, under the heading “Prediction.”
Write a paragraph about whether you think that rocks can change in ways not described in our rock cycle. Give reasons for your answer.
For example do you think Metamorphic Rock can become Sedimentary Rock without passing through the Igneous stage?
Can Igneous Rock become Metamorphic Rock without passing through the Sedimentary Rock stage?
Can Sedimentary Rock become Igneous Rock without passing through the Metamorphic Stage?
Homework is due to be handed in tomorrow Thursday 18th September in your lesson.
