Dear families,

I have set three pieces of extended study for X25 students this week.

1. Write up their MATHS FACT for their poem in neat. Students have their working out in the back of their maths books from a session this morning, but need to write this up in neat on their research doc. Details and a model have been shared on Google Classroom. This is due by Friday morning of this week please.
2. Complete a first draft of their poem. Students have been doing their research and have started drafting this last week. They need to have a first draft in their research document in Google Docs by Wednesday evening of this week at 8pm please. Models and instructions have been shared in Google Classroom.
3. Hegarty Maths revision/exercises on unit rates. I have set students some tasks associated with unit rates, which we have ben working on over the last week. Some students already mastered this so I have set some additional recap or stretch tasks for them. These are due in by Thursday morning of next week as we have an assessment on Friday 21st.

All students have been set exercises  on Hegarty Maths. The deadline for this is Friday of next week, 30th November.

They also need to make sure that they earn 1000 points in TTRockstars before Friday too as usual. We are working on prime factorisation at the moment, so students are working on 7 times tables in the garage.

All Year 7 students have been set a range of exercises in Hegarty Maths.

The deadline for completion is Wednesday 7th November.

If students need help they can leave comments in Hegarty Maths, or they can watch the video associated with the exercise.

Skipper have been set 4 exercises on Hegarty Maths to complete this week. The deadline in Monday 8th October. Thanks.

A reminder that all students need to earn at least 1000 points each week in Times Tables Rockstars. This week in the garage it is 2s and 3s.

Students in X25 Admiral have been given instructions on how to log into hegartymaths.com

They need to put in their first name, surname and then their date of birth. They will then be asked to set a password.

Once they have logged in, they will see that I have set them three exercises. To get the most out of Hegarty Maths, students should:

• Watch the accompanying video for each exercise
• Have a pencil and paper handy to make notes and do working out
• Send messages to me when they do not understand a question

The tasks that have been set are some of the earlier set of skills around addition and subtraction. There are over 800 skills in total which take students right up to GCSE level. At the moment we are still getting baseline information on where students are at in terms of prior knowledge but in the coming weeks, increasingly I will set personalised sets of questions to make sure that all students are challenged.

The deadline for completion of these three activities is for the morning of Tuesday 25th September.
