Ayten’s Awesome Art work…

Today, Crew Caldwell completed a weekly self-appraisal of their HOWLs (Habits of Work and Learning). It’s an open forum, where students grade their HOWLs from 2.0 to 4.0, and then Crew members are invited to agree or disagree with the gradings. Variously, students agree or disagree where they feel there is insufficient evidence in sessions of someone’s self-assessed grades, and sometimes they disagree where they feel a crew member has under-rated their performance, and they make a case for the grade to be higher. The general consensus is then entered on our weekly tracker.

Ayten wanted to substantiate her “work hard” and “get smart” HOWLs grades with a stunning piece of art work (that I’d first seen first hand when I visited her art session earlier this week):

When Jenson saw how successfully Ayten had applied the grid method to replicate the miner’s lamp, he remarked: “it’s just like she’s taken a photo“. I’m reminded of the lessons I learned when I first watched Austin’s Butterfly…..
