Crew Rashford – Tranquil Tuesday

Crew Rashford fully immersed in their anchor text for the new expedition.
Showing kindness and supporting each other with reading together.

“The most important thing is to read as much as you can, like I did. It will give you an understanding of what makes good writing and it will enlarge your vocabulary.” By J. K. Rowling.

Passage

We have been working really really hard on passage presentations, working together and independently to ensure they are spot on!

Parents – Look out first week back for an invite to the presentations  – I look forward to see you all soon.

Crew Rashford Crew Fire Pit

A little fire pit crew session to start our week!

Crew Rashford spent a crew session outdoors round the fire pit. Enjoying hot chocolate and biscuits to kick start our week.

Being outdoors comes with many benefits such as improving mental health and wellbeing. Students that spend more time outside during the day have shown improved concentration, increased productivity, better behaviour and more positive relationships amongst their peer group.

So here’s to the warmer weather and more crew activities outside.

When you’re ready, sunshine!! We are waiting for you!

We are the mighty Crew Rashford!

Passage

Crew have been working hard on Passage – some are grappling with the content but we still have a few weeks left, so get stuck in and shout for support if you need it guys!

We asked Y10 students to pop along to crew to support some areas of passage. This is a great opportunity for Crew to speak to, to gain knowledge and understanding of what needs to be done. How it went for them and learning from the experience Y10 had previously.

DofE

We are well on our way with DofE and we have some exciting things coming up – this will be communicated asap.

Students have been working towards their Bronze award and are currently developing their first aid skills.

Quiz them on some scenarios, so far we have covered:

  • Asthma Attacks
  • Broken Bones, Fractures, Spinal Injuries, Dislocated joints, Sprains and strains.
  • Chest Pains, Choking
  • Low Blood Sugar
  • Bleeding and Shock
  • Extreme Temperatures and Fainting

This is all to support them in life but also to support them with their expedition section of the award. ⛺️

Equipment stand!

Just a mini stand: We have noticed a decline in equipment for some students  – not all so thank you to those who have all their equipment.

Just a reminder please ensure that students are fully equipped for learning, which is part of our HoWL’s. Additionally, they must have a device and this should be charged ready to go! The number of times I have leant my charger to Crew (their phones are always charged tho – funny that 🤣).

What’s on our plate next term?

We will be heading into a new case study for our expedition ‘You Give me Fever’.

Parent: look out for a letter for up and coming fieldworks for next term. Some amazing opportunities for greater learning.

Hope you all have a wonderful half term – see you all soon

Farewell Breakfast

Last week we said farewell to one of our Crew members. A great chance to reminisce on our time together and see them off in style. We had an amazing crew session and a lovely breakfast.

It is safe to say there is a great big hole left in crew and they will be missed very much. We wish them all the best for the future and academic success of course, keep in touch!

Academic Crew

During academic crew we have been considering what our HoWLs look like and how we can set mini pledges to support improving them.

Reviewing where we are at each weeks helps students set and recognise that they are improving their HoWLs week by week.

Students’ HoWLs Snapshots will be sent home next term.

DofE

This week we have been learning about Asthma Attacks – Signs and symptoms, what to do in an emergency situation and how students can support someone experiencing an attack.
