New Staff Expedition Slice: IMMERSION

Today the hard work on our expedition slice began following our BBK immersion yesterday which centred around the question ‘Why do we need to move towards more sustainable living?’

In order to close the immersion we visited a Gurdwara this morning which provided us with an opportunity to find out more information surround the Sikh faith, Lunga (an event whereby the Sikh community will feed anyone who is in need and arrives at their place of worship) and Seva (Service).

When arriving back at XP East we were given time to practise the ‘Rule of Two Feet’ and get a feel for how the practices and protocols we had been introduced to during immersion came to life in the classroom setting. We were amazed by the hard work we could see going on!

After this we were finally introduced to our Guiding Question for the expedition along with the Learning Targets which accompanied the study. A workshop gave us an insight into how we might teach an expedition using ‘Workshop 1.0’.

Tomorrow another new member of staff will post our learning journey after we have completed further Fieldwork and Workshop 2.0!

All of our activities have been logged today and you can view them here!
