Staff Crew: community activism

Pupils begin every school day at XP with their crews. Staff do the same on staff days. What’s good for the kids is good for us! This week, we spent Mindful Monday supporting a local charity: https://cavycorner.org. Dedicated volunteers Sue and Michael visited us to tell us about their work rescuing and rehabilitating guinea pigs. They shared some moving and shocking stories about their experiences. The charity demonstrates our character trait of compassion and we commend their commitment to speaking out for the welfare of this popular pet. There are currently over a hundred guinea pigs in their care! As part of our ‘Activism’ curriculum seam, all staff brought in a donation of food for the guinea pigs or made a cash donation, showing that our HOWL ‘Be Kind’ can make a difference in the local community. We were delighted to receive pictures of the rescue’s residents enjoying our donations later that day!

If you too would like to support the charity, perhaps by fundraising or volunteering, then please visit their website to find out more. The charity is organising a fun small animal show in Armthorpe on April 14th to raise funds. If you have your own furry critters at home then why not go along and see if you can win a class or two!
