Y7/8 off to a winning start

The Year 7 and 8 boys football team joined together in Monday’s first league game of the season against Ash Hill. The first 10 minutes saw XP unsettled and at a 1-0 deficit. A tidy finish, placed in the top corner. XP replied strongly, breaking through the lines on a couple of occasions but not being able to beat the Ash Hill keeper. 25 minutes in and XP equalised, a ball played down the left. The cross from Moore, with a headed finish from Brewster who was playing out of position. 1-1 at the break.

The second half started with a couple of changes being made to bolster up the midfield. It was an explosive first few minutes with XP hitting the bar twice, and creating numerous chances. 4 minutes into the second half and butler linked up with Brewster and Richards, with a tidy finish into the bottom corner. The dominance continued, and XP scored another 10 minutes later, a lovely worked team goal, finished off with a strike to the top corner.

It was a great experience for the Year 7’s who were playing their first game today. They showed real quality and a mature performance from the Year 8’s who are going from strength to strength after their national cup Last 16 exit. Well done to all involved.
