The sculptures C22 students completed for the expedition Being Human last year are now being displayed at Cast in Doncaster Town Centre up until the 4th December for the public to see.

As part of the C22 Rebellion expedition students rehearsed scenes from Romeo and Juliet which were then performed at a Celebration of Learning to their parents. This film is the highlights from the evening.

Next week Year 8 students in their Drama X-block will be having a dress rehearsal for their Presentation of Learning where they will be presenting scenes from Romeo and Juliet. As a result we would appreciate if students could bring a change of dark coloured clothes on the day they have Drama (if possible on a coat hanger) and then leave these clothes in school after the dress rehearsal as their costume for the evening.
The final Presentation of Learning will be held on 20th July at 5.30pm.

As part of immersion students have been building on their knowledge of the Globe Theatre to provide context for their study of Romeo and Juliet. On Monday students were asked to grapple with a tricky model of the theatre itself. Aimee and Paige showed real resilience and produced this beautiful work!

As part of Year 8’s next expedition entitled ‘Rebellion’ we have organised a visit to see a production of Romeo and Juliet at the Globe Theatre in London on Wednesday 10 May. Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre is built near to the site of the original theatre made famous by Shakespeare and his company who performed many of the bard’s plays for the first time at this venue in the 17th Century! The performance venue has been reconstructed in the style of an Elizabethan theatre and captures the magic and excitement of this period. This is an amazing opportunity for our students to see a live theatre performance in one of the world’s greatest and most sought after venues.
We will leave at 8.00am on Wednesday 10 May, travel down to London by coach and watch a matinee performance at 2pm of Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet. We will return straight after the performance and arrive back in Doncaster at approximately 9.30pm, traffic permitting.Students will need to bring a packed lunch for the journey down to London and either another packed lunch or some money for the services on the way home. Any students who may suffer from travel sickness need to take medication before we leave and have additional medication to take for the journey home.
Year 8’s had an amazing day yesterday at the National History Museum.

Year 8 Skipper and Admiral have a specific earthquake or tsunami to research. This research needs to be completed by Friday 24th March so that students can begin writing their scientific article from Monday 27th March.
As students will be writing scientific articles they will need their devices each session over the forthcoming weeks.

Could I also ask that parents and carers do not send students with anything containing peanuts as we have a student with allergies to peanuts, also if students require an inhaler they must bring one with them on the day.
As part of the expedition Disaster!, students will carry out Fieldwork at the Natural History Museum, London, on Thursday 30th March 2017. Students will be travelling by coach to London and will therefore need to arrive at school no later than 6.15 am ready for a 6.30 am departure. We will arrive back at school later that evening at around 7.00 pm, depending on traffic. All students except those on Free School Meals will need to bring a packed lunch, and may want to bring some money for the Services on the way home where there will be an opportunity to eat, or bring a double packed lunch instead.
We ask that any students who are travel sick take their medication in good time, sit at the front of the bus, and pass their return journey medication to myself or their Crew leader.
