This week students need to learn the food items from the menu for a test on Friday 17th March. This will be from Spanish into English. Any problems, please see Mrs Sprakes.
All year 8 students have been set a personalised set of mymaths activities for the two week break.
These are designed to stretch, introduce new concepts or prepare students for FIX when they return to school.
To login, student use: xpschool rectangle137. To access “my portal” they have a 3 digit username and 3 letter password.
Students should complete the online lesson first for each activity before they attempt the homework task. They should aim to get 80%.
The deadline is 8pm on Monday 6th March. Most students have enough exercises to do around one per day over the two week break, so please encourage your son or daughter to do little and often. Each exercise typically takes around 20 mins.
If internet access is going to be a problem, if your son or daughter is struggling with the work, has lost their username and password or if they have any other problems, please get them to email me on [email protected]
Thanks
All year 8 students will be working on the final product which is a result of their hardwork, research and presentations this term. Tomorrow students will begin building the sustainable urban drainage system to help relieve some of the surface water on the school grounds. Students will be working outdoors and will need their fieldwork gear: warm clothes, casual clothing that they don’t mind getting a little dirty wellies/work boots.
Well done everyone in year 8 on a great expedition and fantastic final product!
All students have until Wednesday evening to complete the final draft of their short story. This will then allow students time to complete a final write up by Friday 10th February.
This week students are to research food and mealtimes in Spain, noting any cultural differences and a typical Spanish recipe. This can be a google doc, and the due date is Friday 17th February. Any problems, please see Mrs Sprakes.
Over the extended weekend students will need to write the opening of their short story on lined paper. This will need to be completed for Tuesday.
Research the following species and find out their preferred growing conditions. For example, can you tell me what helps grass to grow well such as soil pH, soil moisture, amount of sunlight. We need this information so that we can compare it with the results of our investigation next week.
Year 8 have their weekly times table rockstar to complete, and some personalised mymaths exercises to complete.
All details on Google classroom.
The deadline is Friday 27th at 8pm.
Your task is to complete the flooding cascading consequences chart that we started in last session on Friday. As we agreed in class, this needs to be completed for Wednesday 25th January.
See Google classroom for more details and access to the texts. Please mark as ‘done’ on Google Classroom when completed.
If you are confused or need help, please let me know as soon as possible! Good luck!
For a test on Friday 3rd February, students have to learn the list of holiday activities in the past tense. Students should know what the Spanish means, so they can write the English meaning. Any problems, please see Mrs Sprakes.
