Year 8 Final Product: SUD construction

All year 8 students will be working on the final product which is a result of their hardwork, research and presentations this term. Tomorrow students will begin building the sustainable urban drainage system to help relieve some of the surface water on the school grounds. Students will be working outdoors and will need their fieldwork gear: warm clothes, casual clothing that they don’t mind getting a little dirty wellies/work boots.

Well done everyone in year 8 on a great expedition and fantastic final product!

Year 8 STEM Extended Study: Due Wednesday 25th

Your task is to complete the flooding cascading consequences chart that we started in last session on Friday. As we agreed in class, this needs to be completed for Wednesday 25th January.

Year 8 Fieldwork: Week beginning 3rd January

Year 8 will be going out on fieldwork on the first week back at school as part of their immersion into the next expedition. Classes will be visiting Potteric Carr Nature reserve from 10.00 until 12.30 so there is no need to bring a packed lunch as the regular school timetable will be unaffected. Classes will be going out on the following days:

Skipper: Wednesday 4th January

Admiral: Thursday 5th January

It important that all students arrive to school with kit listed below as a minimum as they will be working outdoors and it is of course likely to be very cold.

Kit:

  • Hat
  • Gloves
  • Waterproof coat
  • Long sleeve top
  • Warm jumper/fleece
  • Wellington boots
  • 2 pairs of socks
  • Warm trousers (not Jeans)

Year 9 PE

Just a reminder that Year 9 will being doing football this term which will take place on the cages at Keepmoat stadium.

Students must have the following: football boots/astroturf trainers, shin pads, football socks, shorts, t-shirt. Students are encouraged to bring additional warm layers and a waterproof in case of rain and cold weather.

Upcoming Football Fixtures

Year 8 Boys: 

Year 8 boys have a fixture Wednesday 2nd November against Dinnington High School. The game will be played on astro turf pitch under floodlights. Students will need either moulded studded boots, blades or astro turf trainers, shin pads and something warm to change into.

We’ll be leaving straight after school finishes at 3.15 and will aim to get back for approximately 17.45-18.00 depending on traffic.

Year 7 Boys: 

Year 7 boys have a fixture on Wednesday 16th of November at Thorne Trinity. The game will be played on astro turf pitch under floodlights. Students will need either moulded studded boots, blades or astro turf trainers, shin pads and something warm to change into.

We’ll be leaving straight after school finishes at 3.15 and will aim to get back for approximately 17.45.

This fixture was originally scheduled for 9th but has now is been moved back to 16th at the request of our opponents.
