Students in 8 Admiral and 8 Skipper have been set a piece of extended study to create their own interpretation of the island discussed in Shakespeare’s The Tempest. Students must ensure they use quotations in their work alongside any drawing or design they create. In both groups students should have already decided on their pairs for this task and how they wish to present their interpretation. This work is due on 28th June.

MG3A Forms

During the CSI: Doncaster expedition a “murder” scenario was introduced which was written alongside Chief Detective Superintendent Richard Kerman. This established a sense of realism to the detective and forensic work and added authenticity to the expedition.

An in depth discussion of the pathology with a Surgeon of Maxiofacial surgery Mr Pete Brotherton was also part of this experience which led the narrative of the closing weeks of the expedition, as students tested and located evidence. Students completed a blood test and a blood splatter pattern analysis as part of this process in their attempt to find evidence to convict the suspects.

The students then produced an MG3A form which is the official title of the form used when convicting a non guilty plea. The students had to fill in the form with their summarised evidence of the case in preparation for presentation to the final expert, a barrister, in the hope of conviction.

Here are a couple completed by some of our students…[gview file=”https://cdn.realsmart.co.uk/8fcb5ef6413072ba30cbe25fbf839dfb/uploads/2016/08/MG3AbyAbbieOliviaJamesLyleandMary.pdf”] [gview file=”https://cdn.realsmart.co.uk/8fcb5ef6413072ba30cbe25fbf839dfb/uploads/2016/08/MG3AbyChloeEmilyDaltonColeSabaa.pdf”]

Grand Designs Book

The Grand Designs book launched on Saturday at the Potteric Carr Springwatch event is now available to order online and in school.

This book was the final product of the year 7 expedition Grand Designs last year where students investigated ‘What in nature inspires us?’ and ‘Is there a design to nature?’. The book is a collection of the work students have done on the different species that exist at Potteric Carr Nature Reserve. Each student had to write a first person narrative, a fact file and produce a lino print on the species they were given which produced this amazing book.

You can now buy this book on our online shop or pop into school to purchase your copy. The lino prints that appear in the book can also be ordered and will be displayed in a decorative mount.

A price list is shown below

Grand Designs book: £9.95 collection from school or £12.95 posted to anywhere in the UK
