Year Ten have taken part in some community activism this term as part of their final product for the expedition ‘It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas’. After studying Charles Dickens’ ‘A Christmas Carol’ and watching Scrooge’s transformation, pupils were keen to demonstrate their own compassion to others. As such, we gave our support to Doncaster Food Bank. Inspired by a visit from the Food Bank’s manager, pupils made Christmas crackers which will be distributed with the Christmas food parcels by the Food Bank. Pupils created artwork, poetry and the attached supporting video to help make a difference in their local community. 

We would like to invite parents and guardians to echo this support in the new year by bringing donations for Doncaster Food Bank along with them to the rescheduled Presentation of Learning in January. Please see the attached poster for details of what is best to donate.

When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, we must consult on our admission arrangements that will apply for admission applications the following school year and at least once every 7 years, even if there have been no changes.

Our consultation will last for 6 weeks and between Friday 20th December and Friday 31 January.

This is just a reminder that the school will be closing for all students at 1:30pm today as it is the last day of term.This is so staff are able to prepare for the new term.

There will not be any provision for students to stay after this time so all students must leave at 1:30pm.

School reopens on Monday 6th January 2025.

Crew Breakfast: The Heart of the Morning

The crew breakfast was the perfect complement to our Secret Santa exchange. We wanted to keep it casual, festive, and full of options to suit everyone’s tastes. From steaming hot chocolate in orange flavour, white chocolate and original and apple juice at crew’s request. For food we had some fruit with crepes, croissants, pains au chocolat to yum yums from Greggs. Merry Christmas and a happy new year to all from crew Lovelace!

Exploring history through immersive learning! From Vikings at Murton Park to Shakespeare’s magic, C31’s Expedition journeyed through the Roman, Medieval, Early Modern & Industrial eras. With hands-on activities, creative writing, and expert insights, they connected past & present in unforgettable ways.

At their Presentation of Learning they recreated a historical timeline for parents and staff and a variety of drama performances as well as student led teaching sessions to demonstrate our learning. 

Their knowledge culminated in a piece of narrative writing, independently written by students to reflect the life and experiences of a different person in history. The book is available to purchase here.

This morning in crew we exchanged secret Santa presents. It was great to see crew had thought about the presents they had bought for each other and we had a fantastic morning all together. We also completed a Christmas Kahoot which was really close but right at the end Izzy and Kiera won!!

I have been so proud of crew this term. They have worked really well together and shown each other great compassion and worked hard throughout the term. They have received 196 praises between them, which is amazing. A special well done to Pixie who has received 38 praises- Well done Pixie!!!

I hope you all have a fantastic Christmas and New Year and looking forward to the next term- I’m sure it will be the best one yet!
