Crew Nightingale: Progress in Art Expeditions

3D Art students have been exploring the theme of transformation. They’ve been discussing how this idea connects to the Viking era, looking at stories, myths, and historical events that show change and evolution over time.

As part of their GCSE coursework, students are focusing on AO1, which involves developing ideas through research and demonstrating an understanding of different sources. This means they are investigating artists, cultures, and visual references to inspire their own creative responses.

Art, Craft and Design students have been exploring real photo paintings, artworks that transform realistic photographic images into expressive hand-painted pieces. This process encourages them to experiment with texture, colour and emotion, turning everyday photographs into unique creative interpretations.

PE Round Up

Welcome back to the new term.It has been a brilliant first week back in PE. We have had assessment week, students have been completing their PE journals and reflecting on football and netball. Some students have been developing their leadership skills this week in football. We are going to have some great sports leaders next year. Well done everyone.

Fixtures this week have included boys football in year 7 and 10. Year 10 students were at home to Adwick. Year 7 were away for their first game against De Warenne both teams won their first match, well done Year 7. Some brilliant football displayed from both year groups.

Tuesday – Cheerleading practice 3.30-4.30

Wednesday – Netball practice 3.30-4.30, Year 7 and 8 girls football away return to school 5.45pm

Wise Wednesdays with Crew White: Looking Three Years Ahead

This term, Crew White’s Wise Wednesdays topic is “Where will we be three years from now?” guided by the question: “How can we ensure we’re heading in the right direction?”

We’ve had some really mature conversations about what the next few years might look like, the steps we need to take, and how work experience, college open days, and Mrs Burns, our careers adviser, can support us in finding our paths.

It feels crazy to think three years ahead, but we know how fast time goes — so it’s important to start planting those seeds now.

We also reflected on our childhood dreams and asked: “What did you want to be when you grew up — and is that still the same?” There were lots of classics — hairdresser, firefighter, police officer, vet — but only one student still wants the same job they dreamed of as a child!

It’s exciting to see how our ideas for the future are starting to take shape as we look ahead together as Crew White.
