A reminder that as we are doing immersion activities for the start of new learning expeditions, there is no X block this week as usual.

Students have a range of tasks to complete. All details are on google classroom:
- FIX work: Some students have some additional work to complete, they were given a letter and copies of the work to take home yesterday. If you are uncertain about whether or not your son or daughter needs has been given some work to do, please contact me on [email protected]
- Rock Cycle Story Redraft: All students need to make sure they have responded to all of my comments on their rock cycle stories. This needs to be completed by Tuesday 3rd Jan, when we return to school.
- Times tables rockstars: This will be checked on the first Friday back (6th Jan) and students need to complete two weeks worth of practice in that time. 20 games in the studio, 20 games in the garage, earning at least £2000.
- Mathletics: Students have been set 6 exercises that will help prepare them/give us a baseline for their next learning expedition. Their usernames and passwords have been attached to the post on google classroom.

We have a presentation of learning this Monday 12th December for Year 7.
Students need to stay in school between 3.15pm and the start of the presentation at 5.30pm. If students are bringing a change of clothes, they can leave this with their crew leader or in lockers as is appropriate.
Students must not leave the site unless accompanied by their own parent/s. They would need to be back in school for 5.15pm.
Students should be dressed smartly, so ideally in a shirt/blouse type top with either dark jeans, a skirt or pants.
Sportswear should be avoided if possible.
Students have asked to wear Christmas themed clothing, however since the event is about us paying respect to the miners, and is not a Christmas themed celebration, we feel that this is not appropriate for Monday evening.
(As a school we’ll be doing a fundraising event on Friday of next week around Christmas clothing – more details to follow)
Finally, please remember to use car park 2 for the event, as there is a drive in cinema in car park 3. If this presents access problems, please contact the school office to make arrangements.
Students have a fact into fiction story to write about the rock cycle. Instructions and a writing frame are on google classroom. This needs to be complete for Monday 31st October. Ideally students should work on the google doc, but hand written is fine.
Students should also do two weeks of practice on times tables rockstars. They need to play 20 games in the studio, and 20 games in the garage. They should aim to earn £2000 in total. Their current total is posted on google classroom. The deadline for this is Friday 4th Nov at 8pm.
The Year 7 presentation of learning for their current learning expedition will take place on the evening of Monday 12th December. We will have more details on exact timings in due course.
It is really important that every student attends, and has someone from their family come to the event to celebrate the incredible work that they are doing.
7 Skipper will be going out on fieldwork on Tuesday 27th Sept.
7 Admiral will be going out on fieldwork on Wednesday 28th Sept.
The fieldwork is located at a range of former quarries where students can study exposures of the 3 main types of rock found in Doncaster.
They will need to be prepared for the weather. At the moment the forecast looks good, however please keep an eye on this as we get closer to the fieldwork.
Long trousers and sleeves are best as we will be walking through some overgrown areas.
Wellies are advisable whatever the weather.
Students will need a pack up lunch, they can take this in their normal school bags. We can provide lunch for students on free school meals.
Student will also need a bottle of water.
X Block will be taking place as normal so students will need their PE kit if they normally have PE on these days.

Students were asked to critically analyse the prologue of Kits Wilderness, the anchor text. This was the first time that Year 7 (aged 11 and 12) had text coded and critically analysed a text.

Just a reminder that Year 7 are on fieldwork at Potteric Carr tomorrow and so will need the following:
Warm clothing
Waterproofs
Wellingtons/boots
Water bottle
Sun cream if the weather dictates.

Students will have weekly extended study associated with fieldwork to complete a piece of reflective writing that describes their experience in the reserve. This should be completed each week for the Friday session.
Skipper, Please ensure you have marked your work as done for the Mathletics Algebra – this was due in on the 13th April but I have extended it so students can mark it as done.
You had 3 exercises to do:
Show ALL STEPS OF WORKING OUT in orange homework books.
The three titles are:
1. Writing Algebraic Expressions
2. Recognising like terms
3. Like Terms: Add and subtract
Don’t forget that for like terms 7xy and -3xy ARE like terms. But 6x and 5xy ARE NOT like terms.
The DEADLINE was Wednesday 13th April at 8 PM. Books were due in on Thursday 14th. Any students who have not done handed this in by tomorrow can expect to come to compulsory homework.
