This week in Humanities sessions X24 students have been exploring the context of their anchor text Of Mice and Men. As the book is set in 1930’s America we have been studying what life was like at this time and recording our new understanding using a BBK note catcher. All students worked hard to expand their knowledge during these sessions but Milla and Aaisha’s work stood out in terms of it’s Craftsmanship and Quality. Beautiful work girls!
We would just like to inform you that X24 Presentation of Learning for their current expedition ‘Life through a Lens’ will take place at XP School on Wednesday 10th July at 5pm.
This will be the final Presentation of Learning for Year 8, so it would be brilliant to see you there in support of our students.

X24 Started their new STEAM expedition on Friday with their first immersion challenge: Building and testing air powered rockets. We had a fun session with paper, card and tape before going outside to fire the rockets using our custom made compressed air launcher. The expedition title and Guiding Question will be revealed early next week!
With a few hints, clues and a quick game of hangman, X24 students successfully identified all the components of the new expedition.
Over the next six weeks we will be studying the expedition entitled Life through a Lens and attempting to answer the question “How can the Arts help to uncover the past?”
A new term and a new expedition for students in X24. As with all expeditions at XP we start this process with an immersion which allows students to grapple and make considered predictions about the content of the expedition.
The first immersive task given to the students today was to take the opening of their Anchor Text, which is currently unknown to them and use the writers description to paint the setting.
The students were so focused and as a result produced beautiful work that will be placed in the front of their new exercise book. 
On Wednesday 8th May, students in X24 will be performing William Shakespeare’s Romeo and Juliet as their final product for the expedition REBELLION.
The performance will take place at 6pm at XP EAST. Please ensure you arrive in time to be seated before the performance starts.
Students in X24 will be expected to stay at school until the end of their Presentation of Learning. The reason for this is because this will allow time for the students to do a rehearsal before the evening performance. Therefore, please can you ensure that students bring enough food to fuel them for the evening.

Skipper have been set some work on the regeneration of Sir Nigel Gresley square. This is due in on Wednesday 24th April. All the details are on Google classroom.
X24 students will be out on fieldwork for two days next week.
On Tuesday 2nd April we will be travelling to Sheffield as part of the immersion for our new STEAM expedition. The fieldwork will take place during the day so students should arrive at school at the normal time. Lunch will be provided.
On Wednesday 3rd April we will be on Humanities fieldwork but will need to leave school at 8am and will arrive back at 4.15pm Students will need to bring a packed lunch and should have coats and sensible shoes for walking outside as there will be a 10 minute walk from the coach stop to our destination.
X24 will be attending a performance of Romeo & Juliet at The Grand Theatre, Blackpool on Wednesday 27th February. We will be leaving school at 10am and aim to return to XP by 7pm. Students will need to bring a packed lunch that will be eaten on arrival in Blackpool and also have some further food to snack on during the return journey. We will keep you updated during the day through the school website.
