Crew Tomlinson – New year, Great start!

Last week Crew made a fantastic start to 2021. It was always going to be different with working from home however crew have started the year absolutely flying. Crew have had fantastic attendance and made brilliant contributions on hangouts.

Last week we had a check in looking at any new years resolutions people had, which included more exercise, eating healthier and becoming more organised.

Fran also shared a lovely picture of her cute dog who joined her family over the Christmas period, who I think it gorgeous!

Crew are also working hard on their passage preparation- reflecting over the last 2 1/2 years they have studied at XP. Crew are working really hard, particularly well done to Fran and Nada who have made some great progress on their script over the last week. Remember crew the hard work will pay off.

Looking forward to seeing what great work you produce this week and again a massive Well done with all your efforts in this challenging time.

Mrs Burnitt

Unfortunately, due to X25 having to self-isolate over the last month, we are having to postpone the presentation of learning that was scheduled to go live tonight until the new year.

We’ll be sharing a new calendar event over the break to reschedule the online stream in January, we look forward to presenting the work that the Y9s have produced. Thank you for your continued support!

X25 Year 9 Fieldwork

Year 9 will be going on fieldwork on 13th October as part of their ‘Welcome to the Machine’ expedition. We’ll be leaving school at 9:30AM and returning at 3:00PM, so this will not affect their drop off or pick up times, however, due to the pandemic, we ask that all students have guardian consent for them to attend.

We’ll be visiting Hatfield Moors, to collect species data and conduct scientific tests on the peatland during the day. We will be maintaining the bubbles, and wearing masks on the coaches to minimise risk of transmission, and we will be outside all day.

As part of the precautions, we ask that you fill in the following google forms, granting permission for students to attend the fieldwork on 13th October:

This outlines that if your child falls ill with covid symptoms on that day, they would need collecting from Hatfield Moors (about 40 minute drive from the school).

They will need packed lunches (school will provide FSM pack-ups), a face mask, warm layers, decent shoes and a waterproof on the day.

If you have any questions about the plans for the day or concerns, don’t hesitate to email me ([email protected])

X25 Skipper- Weighing up the costs

X25 Skipper were all working really hard today in HUMS. We were looking at the trading triangle, with students taking information from different sources and adding it to their notes, some really beautiful work was created and fantastic teamwork supporting their shoulder partners to gain the information.

Students showed great maturity in a discussions about benefits and costs of industrialisation  with some fantastic debates for both sides. Great contributions from Oliver L, Josh K, and Holly W.

At the end of the session Rikki, Danny, Harley and Josh all showed great courage trying to speak for a minute without stopping about all the information they have gathered and understood about the trading triangle.

Great Work Skipper!

X25 Admiral – Craftsmanship and Quality

In X25 we have been focusing on the Craftsmanship and Quality of our work. In the first session of our immersion we explored the historical concept of change and continuity and what factors affect change. Students worked really hard in all three Humanities sessions to create several note catchers that we will keep referring back to throughout the expedition.

I could of taken a photo of any students work as they were all beautiful, however Grace and Declan’s work stood out.

Well done Admiral, Keep this up and your books will look amazing by the end of the expedition.
