Crew Stan Lee are back with a bang!!

Crew Stan Lee are back after an eggcellent …… Easter break!

This week crew have chosen their physical activity for the Duke Of Edinburgh Award.

Choices ranged from Rounders, Futsal or a 5k run/walk. Crew were super excited and really looking forward to Friday afternoons.

We have completed a self assessment task looking at HOWL grades and reflected on each others self assessments, this will be a great tool moving forward, helping us all up the XP mountain and giving us the tools reach our full potential by working hard, getting smart and being kind.

Over the next few weeks we be looking at our choice GCSE and careers going forward, as a crew we are on an exciting journey and I can’t wait to see to what the future holds!

A rest from our screens….

Crew Stan Lee have been completing various activities to promote enjoying a screen free session.

We’ve learnt new skills from cooking, baking, mastering football skills and even learning a new language.

I even learnt a new skill of maintaining my car by refilling the screen wash and topping up the air in my tyres.

We completed random acts of kindness by helping our families with chores and making lunch for our siblings.

Yesterday was all about relaxation and boy did they relax… crew read, listened to music and even went for a run.

Our screen free activity today is Den building or writing a creative comic strip or story board. I cannot wait to see what crew come up with as they are a creative bunch.

Here is a collection of images to showcase what we have been up to.

Proud As Punch!

Congratulations to Crew Stan Lee for all completing their Passage Presentation!

All smiles as passage was over!!

To say that Passage Presentation has been tough this year is a slight understatement, due to students completing it virtually.

Crew Stan Lee have all worked extremely hard and produced some fantastic presentations, all students presented their work to their parents, crew leader and a mystery guest.

I was brought to tears by the passion shown by our crew and the dedication to their own learning.

I feel confident that crew members are ready to move on to the next phase on their journey through XP.

Thank you for all your continued support.

Mrs Pulham.

Y9 Student of the Week

Year 9 student of the week goes to Luke in Crew Stan Lee.

Luke you have been nominated by myself and several of your teachers for working so hard this week and term in sessions and preparing for your Passage Presentation.

We have been really impressed with your contributions during online sessions, your improved attendance online compared to the previous lockdown and the mature manner in which you have prepared yourself for Passage.

Mrs Pullham has expressed how proud she is of you and how impressed she is with your attitude to learning. I am looking forward to being a part of your Passage Presentation and hearing you reflect on your journey through XP.

It won’t be long before we return to school. Let’s keep up this impressive attitude to learning when we return to school. It will have a significant impact on your HOWLS and academic grades if you continue the way you have started this term.

Very impressed young man! Well done. 🙂

What a Crew!!

What another fabulous week from Crew in such strange and tricky times.

I love the focus and enthusiasm from each and every Crew member first thing in a morning.

I applaud the hard work that is going into the preparation for all of their Passage Presentations. I am so looking forward to when they present them.

I have enjoyed listening to staff members praise the hard work that is taking place during the online lessons.

All in all I am very proud………yet again!!

We are the leaders of the future# Crew Piper

Crew Piper have been supporting and leading this week in crew. Students have been offering support with others passage and helping me so I can read through everyones. Brilliant teamwork everyone.

We have been chatting in crew about students mental health and how we can support each other. We came up with a bank of ideas to help over the weekend and next week.

  1. Going for a walk.
  2. Exercise class
  3. Reading
  4. Baking
  5. Having a facetime with friends.

We have also decided as a crew to make Fridays into FUN FRIDAYS and are taking it in turns to lead a fun activity in crew. Can’t wait for our first session next week.

In crew students having been creating some beautiful pieces of artwork. Here are some examples. Its lovely to see the different hobbies we have as a crew.

.

Have a fab weekend everyone

Crew Tomlinson – See you in year 10!

It has been another busy couple of weeks for Crew Tomlinson. Crew are working really hard on their Passage presentations, which I can’t wait for them to present to show their hard work to parents, staff and guest panellists.

Today’s check in question for crew was ‘If you could time travel where would you go?’. We had some brilliant responses with some crew wanting to transport forward a few years to when things are back to a bit more normality and able to enjoy football etc again while others wanted to go back in time. They wanted to rewind for a variety of reasons including because they have heard what a brilliant time period the 80s and 90s was and want to see what it was like and somebody wanting to experience the Victorian Era.

Today is my last day with crew this year, as I am on Maternity leave until September and I wanted to say how proud I am of crew. They are working so hard in these difficult times. Their attendance on hangouts is fantastic and crew are contributing some fantastic points to discussions, particularly in Wise Wednesday sessions. So thanks crew for all your hard work!

I will really miss crew for the remainder of the year and can’t wait to be back to continue their XP journey with crew and see what year 10 brings for them. Time really does fly!

Thanks for all your hard work crew! Please keep it up for the rest of the year and I will see you in September.

X25 / Y9 Student of the week goes to…

In X25/Y9 the student of the week award goes to Guraaj for her outstanding contributions to discussion during online sessions and her conscientious attitude to learning.

Guraaj, you were nominated by several of your peers and teachers. You continue to exceed expectations and set an example of what working hard really looks like!

I have really enjoyed working with you in our Push to 4.0 group, your love for learning is infectious!  Keep being awesome, it certainly is not going unnoticed.

Here are a few comments your teachers/ peers have said about you:

  • My choice is a tough one. I would say this week it is Guraaj. I have no work to show as in Crew the focus has been passage and we don’t want that sharing yet until they have done it!! Gurraj has shown great HOWLS in relation to preparing for her Passage Presentation. She has also spent time helping and supporting other students in Crew to complete their work. Well done, Guraaj!

Praise and reflection for Crew Rosa Parks.

Even though Crew have not had the beginning to the new school year that they had hoped for, I have been so proud of the strength of character and resilience they have shown in adapting to working from home again. I want to praise their enthusiasm and 100% attendance  even with the wifi issues some have experienced.

Crew are also working really hard on Passage Presentation, where they have been reflecting on their journey so far at XP. It has been lovely to remind ourselves of some of their wonderful experiences in Crew over the two and a half years and to look back at photos and work.

The photos and reflections show just how quickly time goes by, how far they have come and how much they have grown and matured.

I enjoyed reminiscing with them.

I hope you enjoy the photos from when times were very different for them and us.

Work hard, Get smart and Be kind

Crew Piper have made a great start back during these strange times.  Attendance to lessons and input into sessions has been very positive, well done.

We have been working hard as a crew  looking at our passage presentation and reflecting on the last 2 1/2 years at XP.

I would like to say thank you to the students who have been helping others out in crew and to the other crews for also supporting.

We all as a crew are demonstrating the XP HOWLS

WORK HARD, GET SMART and BE KIND.

Students have also been completing some beautiful work in lessons. Here is some work from a student from their Spanish lesson. Well done, keep it up.

If we all work together as a team we can overcome anything.
