What a Way to Kick Off Year 11!

What a fantastic first day back for C29!

It was lovely to start the first day of our final year with a walk around Langsett Reservoir, taking in the stunning views and enjoying some time together in the great outdoors.

The walk was also a chance to reminisce about their very first day with us back in Year 7, when they set off on their first Outward Bound walk in Wales. Looking back, we’re not quite sure where the time has gone. It feels like we blinked, and suddenly their school journey is almost over!

It was wonderful to see everyone return after the summer well rested, refreshed and raring to tackle Year 11. There was plenty of catching up between friends, lots of laughter and, of course, plenty of opportunities to show what being a crew is all about. As tired legs started to kick in, students supported and encouraged one another, making sure everyone kept going.

Most importantly, it was fantastic to see the students enjoying themselves, spending time together and taking in the beautiful surroundings.

What a way to begin the school year – and what a way to start their final year with us. Here’s to a brilliant Year 11!

C33 Outward Bound Residential Ullswater

A strange one for our Year 7 staff team this morning… arriving to school and not jumping straight on the coach! But we’re set and raring to go for the morning!

A reminder that all Year 7 students are to arrive through Car Park 3 gate into the school yard for 7am. We will be leaving on the coach at 7:30am.

In the morning, please meet your Crew leader to:

  • Be registered
  • Hand in any medication
  • Hand in your mobile phone
  • Hand in your £10 deposit

If there have been any changes to medication over the summer Crew Leaders have consent forms, please request one if you need to leave any with us. This includes any travel sickness tablets for the return journey.

This week is all about stepping out of our comfort zones and showing there is more in us than we know, that starts by arriving in the morning! We look forward to seeing you!

Adaptability is the true test of any crew. This afternoon, X30 has been pushed to step up to distinct challenges set by Miss Cocliff, Miss Mitchell, Miss Burnitt, and Mr Machin.

Whether it’s raising the bar for academic rigour, sharpening personal character traits, or deeply reflecting, we know what X30 is capable of achieving. True support isn’t just about giving praise; it’s about making a stand, to do this we need to respect one another. Challenge without support leads to frustration. Whenever the bar is raised, X30 ensures no one is left behind, stepping in with encouragement, shared effort, and shared responsibility.
