Charity Tuck Shop!!

C27 have been raising money as part of their final product by hosting a tuck shop on Friday break times. This week is our final push and we have LOTS for sale including crisps, biscuits, sausage rolls, toast etc. Alongside this we have the “sponge a teacher event” where students will be able to throw sponges at teachers during lunch!

The money raised is for St Johns Hospice, a local palliative care hospital which is very dear to our hearts at XP. So please bring in a £1 or 2 to support the cause!

Crew Tomlinson and Stan Lee worked really hard this morning in crew working on their poetry ready for their English Literature exam. Crew members had to try and remember which poems linked together and then they worked in groups to remember the context and content  of the poems including any quotes they can remember.

All crew members contributed and were focused all crew- great work!!

Crew Blessed, Great Ambassadors

Amazing Crew members!

Several of our Crew represented the school and our Crew brilliantly last week as part of new staff interviews as well as keeping up the good work in sessions.

Alana, Zach, Oscar and Kolby were all involved in the interview day from being on the student panel to showing the candidates around school. Miss Cocliff was really impressed by the way they conducted themselves and passed on a praise postcard to each of them. Oscar has also shown Miss Cocliff that he is also achieving great things in sessions too.

Great work Crew!

Fantastic feedback from their Phase Lead!

Super Crew Piper

Huge well done to Crew Piper on making a great start after half term. Crew have been working hard this week preparing for their English speaking exam, academic crew in Spanish and completing science practice questions. I am really proud of how hard they are working and the effort they are putting in.
Keep going Crew Piper.

Working hard in crew

Crews focus this week has been revision for upcoming GCSE assessments. On Monday we looked at History revision-focusing on People’s Health for a mock assessment.

Tuesday the Spanish students had a targeted Spanish session which students found really useful.

And Wednesday crew look at ways to relax to ensure they don’t burn out!

As always crew are working their socks off.

Great work!

Crew Blessed at the halfway point!

As we head into February half term it marks the halfway point in this academic year. This also means Year 11 seems just around the corner. It has been a great first half of Year 10 with academic success and developments in character from everyone. Crew are really starting to look and sound like young adults now.

We want to congratulate Kolby on his recent success in getting selected for the Yorkshire Rugby Union Team. He has worked so hard not just in the recent trials but over the last couple of years. His commitment and attitude towards his goals and ambition is really inspiring to others. He is a great example of how effort and passion for something you love can get you where you want to be. We are very proud of him, not just our Crew but everyone at XP School. We look forward to hearing about the next stage of his rugby story and of course seeing some winning results for Yorkshire.

Kolby – Crew Blessed’s rugby star!

Crew would also like to welcome a new member to our ‘Blessed’ team. Johnathon joined us this week and has settled in really well and really quickly. We hope he enjoys being part of our Crew and being part of XP School.

X25 (Y11) Fieldwork – Doncaster Plant Works

As part of Y11’s History course, we have a wonderful opportunity to visit the site of Wabtec in Doncaster – which was formerly Doncaster Plant Works – a massive part of our heritage! One of the history GCSE papers Y11 will sit is based around this local site and we’re really privileged to be able to visit the birth place of both The Mallard and the record breaking Flying Scotsman – where students will gain a real insight into the site’s significance, both locally and nationally.

ALL of X25 will be attending on Tuesday 17th January 2023. Admiral’s fieldwork will take place in the morning, leaving XP at 9:15am and returning at around 11:30am. Admiral will be in sessions as normal in the afternoon.

Skipper’s fieldwork will take place in the afternoon – leaving XP at 1:30pm and returning back to XP for around 3:00pm. Skipper will be in sessions as normal in the morning.

Lunches should not be affected, but students may wish to bring a packed lunch. We have now secured a coach to take us to and from Wabtec.

If you have any questions/queries, please contact crew leaders, or the following:

Mrs Hannam – History Lead – at [email protected], or Miss Cocliff – X25 Phase Lead – at [email protected].
