It’s a pleasure to get feedback from teachers of our Crew recently, with so many of them doing so well. We had 3 students named in the top 5 praise list this week – Ebony, Oscar and Cejay!
Liam was also our student of the week for his amazing consistency everyday.
It was also good to pop into their class today and see some productive reading going on from Alana, Ben and Oscar.
Members of Crew Blessed have made a fantastic start academically this term as well as showing great character traits.
This morning in Crew other students were celebrating how Luke had been supporting Year 7’s at lunchtimes and making sure they were involved in lunchtime activities. Well done Luke for showing great kindness – a fantastic role model!
Alana and Ben were given great feedback in HUMAN last week. The positivity just keeps flowing.
Well done everyone in Crew for making such a positive start to Year 10 – lets keep it up!
X25 have made a fantastic start to the academic year. They have started to read A Christmas Carol in English making some brilliant notes about the start of the book and analysing the description of Scrooge. In Science they have been completing an experiment to observe a cell using a microscope, creating some great diagrams of what cells look like.
Students have done really well at bringing their equipment to sessions which is imperative to make sure they are competing the work to the best of their ability.
LOOL Citizenship student Nida shared this fantastic set of revision notes she has been working hard on over the weekend! Nida has been collecting information on the UK’s role in global organisations, ready for her next Citizenship lesson. What an amazing role model Nida is to fellow Year 10 students for working hard! Keep up the hard work Nida!
What an absolutely cracking start to the year. Both year groups across both schools have been absolutely on it! Some of our Y10 students are already getting smart by creating revision resources to help them over the next 2 years, whilst our Y11s have come back ready to work hard for their GCSEs.
This week we held our first year group community meetings and, as you can see from the slides below, we already have lots to celebrate!
We have asked all students to re-familiarise themselves with our dress code policy. We understand that our lack of uniform allows students to express themselves, however we do still have guidelines. If students persistently break the dress code guidelines, they will be challenged and required to complete after school reflections. We want to avoid this, so they can attend revision sessions instead to achieve their best grades at GCSE level!
Could we also ask for your support please in ensuring your child comes to school every day with appropriate equipment. This should include a pen, pencil, ruler, water bottle, and fully charged device (we don’t allow students to work on mobile phones). In Y10/Y11 we find devices are used a lot more, so please make sure students are bringing their chargers to school too! It’s vital that they have access to these devices to achieve their full potential through work in sessions and revision. Students may find it beneficial to have a notebook for revision material too, but that’s personal preference!

The wait is almost over: GCSE results will be available for collection from XP School on Thursday 25th August between the hours of 9.30am-11.30am.
Please read the following information about the collection process:
Entry and Exit will be by the usual student entrance at car park 3.
Each Crew will have a designated area within the heart of XP school (all students of XP and XPE will collect their results at XP School).
Crew leaders will have the results for their crew.
Students will have the opportunity to wait on the stairs whilst waiting for a space with their crew leader.
Students can open their results envelope with their crew leader or leave school to open them.
If students want to speak to Crew Leaders after they have received their results they will need to wait on the stairs.
Students will need to complete a destinations form with Mrs Burns before leaving school. Mrs Burns will also be available to discuss next steps, if required.
If students are not able to come to collect their results they must email Miss Cocliff if XP ([email protected]) or Mrs Parker if XPE ([email protected]) from their school email account and request their results be sent to them. Results will be emailed to their school account.
If students have any concerns about their exam results they must email Miss Cocliff or Mrs Parker in the first instance outlining their concerns.
Official GCSE certificates arrive in School late October and students will be invited to a presentation evening in November to receive their certificates.
We are really looking forward to seeing you all on the 25th, and can’t wait to see the results of your hard work, through the most challenging of times. Please remember that – as important as your exam results are – they are just a small part of your XP/XPE journey. We are all super proud of the young people you’ve grown up to be, regardless of what’s in the envelope.

On the very first day back – Tuesday 30th August – our C25 (new Y11) students will be going on a coastal walk to Flamborough.
Students should arrive at school between 8am-8.15am so that we can leave at 8.30am. We are aiming to be back at school by 3.30pm, but will keep you updated on the day.
All students will be expected to bring the Outdoor Kit listed below:
Appropriate rucksack for walking.
Packed lunch (those on FSM will be provided with a school pack lunch.)
Water bottle: approx 2 litres (no energy drinks, milkshakes or fizzy pop)
Waterproof jacket
Appropriate walking trousers/shorts/leggings for the weather.
Walking top/base layer; made from synthetic, man made material (polyester, nylon etc). This type of material removes sweat away from your skin keeping you cool in hot weather and warm in cold weather
Appropriate outdoor shoes (sturdy trainers, walking shoes or walking boots are compulsory – no open toe sandals, canvas shoes or sliders)
Sun hat/Sun cream
Medication

Crew Tomlinson are really excited to be completing their first charity fundraiser next Monday. We have set ourselves a massive challenge of trying to bike coast to coast in a day (on an exercise bike!) We particularly wanted to complete a physical activity due to our crew taken our name from Jane Tomlinson. We are wanting to raise money for Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice to help them carry on helping so many families.
